In a press conference announcing the end of the 10-month investigation into the shooting, Clark County sheriff Joe Lombardo said “What we have been able to answer are the questions of who, what, when, where, and how. What we have not been able to answer definitively is the why Stephen Paddock committed this act.” The 187-page report regarding the shooting said police found no evidence that Paddock acted with assistance from others. As police closed in, Paddock shot and killed himself, taking the secrets of the shooting with him to the grave.
