[COMMUNICATED] Rav Dovid Cohen, like many of the world’s leading rabbanim, has been overwhelmed in recent months with stories of families’ hardships. Some of their stories transcend mere suffering and enter the realm of “pikuach nefesh” – a matter of life & death.
Recently, Rav Cohen & Rav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi gathered to discuss the dire need to help 26 families whose situations they’ve verified as being ‘pikuach nefesh.’ Their solution was to write up a formal document with a powerful blessing to all those who would donate to help the cause.
The shtar reads as follows:
“The cries of 36 families who are in desperate need of help have come before us, and now Vaad Harabanim L’Inyanei Tzedakah in Israel have started an emergency campaign to save them. These specific cases are of the highest priority, and are true pikuach nefesh, and their cry is clear and reaches the heart.
It is a great mitzvah to answer their cry and donate generously to this cause. All those who support and donate will be blessed that they should never need the help of others. They should succeed in everything they do, with long life and nachas from their descendants. And with G-d’s help, this donation will protect and shield them from all plague and harm, measure for measure. And may G-d fulfill all their wishes for the good.
Rabbi Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi shlita
Rabbi Dovid Cohen shlita”
The blessing is multifaceted, a reward ‘midah k’neged midah’ for the gargantuan mitzvah of saving lives. The writing up of the bracha, and the coordination of the agreement of these two prestigious rabbis, was a major undertaking done because of the urgency of the cause in question.
Those who would like to donate to receive their shtar as well as the epic bracha for success, longevity, nachas, and protection from illness can contribute via Vaad HaRabbanim’s fund.
