  1. This is something the LAC and the other one-trick ponies have been failing to consider when making tax relief the single issue of the Jewish community in terms of Lakewood politics. Our taxes are high, there is no arguing that fact, but they’re not out of line for New Jersey. The saddest part of the whole thing is that once the fedaral formulas are adjusted when the new census numbers come in, these guys will take credit for the ensuing tax relief as if they had something to do with it.

  2. Thanks for congressman Chris Smith by voting for cap and trade are taxes would increase even more. Tha obama administration said it will cost families $1761 a year.
    please call his office 202-225-3765
and let them know you are a resident in his district (4th district) and strongly oppose his desicion on cap and trade.

  3. Wow what a great comment so your saying since the entire state is high we should b happy
I say no let’s demand that at least in our town there will be fiscal responsibility

  4. New jersey as a whole has he highest taxes in the nation because it is also the most corrupt state in the country. It is not a coincidence that the most corrupt state has the highest tax rate.
As for Lakewood, our local taxes should be less than the rest of Lakewood since we are all shomer torah and mitzvohs and are therefore not supposed to be corrupt. By comparing us to the rest of the nations of the world, you are making a chillul shem shomayim and as a Lakewood Vaad member, you should not be doing that.

    are you on the vaad?
I’m not moving to texas I want my politicians to be honest and held accountable with transparency and integrity. we COULD lower aor taxes.

  6. Mr. Vaad member of comment 8:50 & 10:34
Thanks for your permission for all us plain folk to move to Texas. I wonder who you are going to rip-off to continue your little private deals.

Another thought, beyond the NJ corruption in which Lakewood does a great job of participating in. Did you notice that over half our taxes go to the Board of Ed How many of members of our community and the retired communities actual use these services. Our taxes should not be the same as the rest of NJ we should come in way lower. Don’t throw at me the busing and special ed, we don’t have more children that require special ed then any other community. Where is the savings that we should be seeing by having such a large retirement community and an orthodox community that doesn’t send their mainstream students to the school system.

I really think we should stop all the courtesy busing that is not refunded by the state and then our askainim will lose the towel they are hiding behind. They will have lost their blackmail as to where our tax money is going. They will have to come up with the difficult answers.

Drowning by taxes & don’t want to move to Texas

  7. Oue taxes are so high becuase New Jersey is so corrupt!

Who says New Jersey is so corrupt?

It must be – just look at our taxes!!

    Gee, anon, logic much?

  8. Who says NJ is corrupt?
How about the acting U.S. Attorney Ralph Marra
His exact quote is “the pervasive nature of public corruption in this state,”
