The Deafening Sound of Silence | G. Sonnenfeld

The past few weeks have shown, without a shadow of a doubt, that Jackson Township and the Republican party in Jackson are replete with anti-Semites.

In instance after instance, Republicans in Jackson have been caught making comments that cannot be interpreted as anything but hateful and bigoted. The very people who claim to be loving and representative of all are, as clearly shown, wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Yet, the Ocean County Republican Party doesn’t seem to care.

Frank Holman, the Ocean County GOP boss, has not made a single public statement condemning the comments made by Clara Glory, Todd Porter, and, perhaps most notably, Mike Reina. For a man like Holman to remain silent in the face of blatant anti-Semitism is neglect of his most basic duties as a civil servant.

The Republican Party has been under fire nationally for allegedly providing a home and safe harbor for bigots and racists. Democrats allege that Republican stances on illegal immigration invite white supremacists to publicly voice their twisted perspectives on race. Since President Trump entered the Oval Office, the sounds of those accusations have reached a crescendo, one that Republicans all over the country have to confront and fight against every day.

But when it comes to Jackson, Republicans seem to be proving the Democrats right. The silence of GOP leaders speaks volumes about their true intentions – political supremacy no matter how grave the consequences are. Bigotry by Republicans in Ocean County is met with little more than a nod and a meaningless statement of support for Jews. But as we all know, actions speak far louder than words. Telling Jews in the wake of the Jersey City shootings that you support them and condemn racists while doing nothing to combat the anti-Semitism right under your nose, is hypocrisy at its finest.

Jews in Ocean County are concerned. While they generally tend to vote Republican, those political allegiances are quickly eroding. And who could blame us? We have openly anti-Semitic Republicans spewing their drivel at us, yet the GOP boss refuses to do anything about it.

If Republicans cared about the rights of Jews to live in peace and harmony, they would stand up and do something about it. If they wanted Jewish votes in future elections, they would make sure to defend Jews when people unfairly attack them.

Mr. Holman, if the latest audio from Mike Reina does not give you a good enough reason to demand his resignation, what then would? The audio could not be more clear – Reina is knowingly discriminating against Jews. How can you ignore this?

Frank Holman, where are you?

  1. Holman was the lesser of two evils. Holman vs. Gilmore’s protege, Frank Sadgeghi. All of these guys are “politically connected”. Holman’s current firm donated tens of thousands to Demorats to DEFEAT Republicans all over the state since at least 2013. FACT. He won the chairmanship by a mere 25 votes likely because Sadeghi just looked foolish. They’re both Republican only in name. Gilmore wanted to be Chairman and run OC from jail like a mob boss with Sadgeghi being his consigliere. Remember, Holman was also Jackson Mayor. At least OC stayed Red but the candidates were not in the best interest of the County. Everyone inside the Party knew that. We have to rely on Reinhardt, which is a good thing. He’s at the top of the food chain compared to Holman who is probably afraid to say anything and thinks it’s better to keep his mouth shut. The main thing was to get the crooked, indicted and sentenced Gilmore out. Unfortunately, good governance wasn’t available anywhere and it came down to Holman or Sadeghi.

  2. Did Holman make good on his promise to retire from his law practice and walk away from the $3M in special interest patronage he gets? Follow the money. Could be he’s in a panic right about now wherever he is.

  3. Frank Holman will loose next couny committe in Jackson as the Orthodox community is now enough to win over half the votes..last time mb made a deal with mrs glory but next time her and t porter will be knocked out as they are in Orthodox districts..2022

  4. To think we here in Jackson made a deal with this man to get him elected and this is how he treats us.

Mr Holman. Be a leader and lead. Let go of your racist friends in Jackson and move on.

  5. I am a goy ( a nonJew). I have many frum (observant Jews) friends in Lakewood, N.J. Many of them I’ve known for years. I’ve been to many frum weddings, brists, birthdays and lavayas [sic?- funerals]. I’ve worked with some of them from Fort Monmouth and traveled to Israel once with a rabbi to celebrate his neighbor’s daughter wedding.

Why prejudice exists against them is a mystery to me. I have always found them to be highly moral, very family oriented and devoted to the study and representative of the five books of Moses. A summary of these laws can be found in Devarim–Deuteronomy.

Their contributions to the betterment of my life and the world are quite remarkable. To name the number of Jewish scientists. engineers, writers, medical researchers, etc., winning the Nobel prize is overwhelming. There is currently a wide spread belief in South Korea that studying the T_rah and the Talmud will increase the intellectual capabilities of their scholars.

I do know that when I was young (don’t ask my age !!!!), polio was rampant. My mother was terrified of the “polio season” and so where many others mothers. A son of a Talmudic Scholar and an MD, Jonas Salk, while doing research at Univ. of Pittt came up with the vaccine which all but eliminated polio. No more Iron Lungs, no more metal braces on polio victims, i.e. Pres. Roosevelt.

A Dr. Irving Weissmann and a Dr. Ronald Levine of Stanford University are making monumental strides in ridding this world of cancer–my father died of an inoperable tumor in his throat, my sister-in-law died of bone cancer. Don’t ask for details of their final days !!!

I’ve often wondered if 6 million hadn’t been slaughter by the Nazis how much better this world and mine in particular would have been !!

I am prejudice, yes, but not against frum but FOR THEM !!!

    A goy,
    Gerry Mullen

PS: Suggest all Jews do: More Talmud Torah (MTT) !!!

  6. Very short memory indeed.
He won his position back in May with 254 vs 229 votes. We were close to 30 community representatives who all voted in one block for him. We literally put him in his position and this is what we get back? A stab in the back?!

If I have a piece of advice for you Frank: Wake up before it’s too late lol.

  7. Not to make it OK the balant antisemites, but still rather deal with real eisov VS the Domies at least they are open what they think. The fake people (including the fake Jews) will twist u and say they just happen to love and care a lot for the pali’s.
Well by the end of the day the famous halacha doesn’t apply to them, some of them Even claim to be real jews, like the jc shooter y”s

  8. How many more times are we going to let these people fool us? The only sensible man in this party is Mo Hill! Frank Holman lied to us, asked many of us to serve vacant committee seats to get elected.. We showed up when he asked us. Now, he’s a no show when we need him. TOdd and clara called us every day during last year’s election for our votes… now this?

HOllman forgets the next election is right around the corner…I wish Mr. Holman Jr. was here to fix this problem…he was a true gentelman politician… not like this cheap version we have now.
