[COMMUNICATED] Seeing Amir Poliakov in his Shuvu Beit Shemesh School makes it hard to believe how far this 7th grader has come.
With an Arab father who lives in Hevron, and a Jewish Russian mother, no one would have dreamt that he would be the “Class Posek”!
But indeed, young Amir has a companion which he takes everywhere – his pocket size Mishna Brura.Whenever a discussion breaks out in his class regarding what the Halacha is, his classmates are used to turning to him. “Amir, what is the Halacha here?”
Amir subsequently flips through his set of Mishna Brura, and “Paskens” for his classmates.
On Rosh Chodesh Tamuz one of the 7th graders remembered that he hadn’t said “Yaale V’Yavo” in Shacharis. His Rebbe watched in tears as Amir quickly flipped through his Sefarim and told his classmate that indeed he must repeat Shmone Esre. “But I already took off my Tefillin”, continued the inquirer. Amir again opened the Mishna Brura, and Paskened, “No, you do not have to put them back on”.
