TLS is pleased to announce that we are once again hosting our once-a-year, 3-week Web-a-Thon fundraiser for the community-based organization, Tomchei Shabbos of Lakewood, the greater Lakewood area’s source of food for Pesach since 1987.

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, each day comes with added difficulties for families all over. Whether it’s a loss of income, difficulty with food access, or even the unexpected change of plans for Pesach, many people are suddenly burdened with what seems like an insurmountable financial crisis. Tomchei Shabbos has been inundated these past few days with requests for assistance, as households from all walks of life struggle with their new reality. New clients are added almost every hour, and the Tomchei Shabbos staff is doing their very best to ensure everyone is properly taken care of.
In addition, Tomchei Shabbos also has to deal with all the logistic difficulties that this crisis has brought. Suppliers are increasing prices, deliveries pushed up, and larger storage facilities are required to manage all the extra inventory. The tireless individuals behind Tomchei Shabbos are working around the clock to make sure all the packages can be prepared for each family, including the gargantuan effort of packaging and bringing the food to each family. As such, their budget for the already expensive Pesach season is rapidly ballooning to astronomic proportions.
With its finger on the pulse of Lakewood, The Lakewood Scoop strongly identifies with the pain and suffering of so many children in the kehilla whose families lack the means to provide them Yom Tov food. We feel the needs of the precious children of these families who would be left with no Yom Tov at all, without the help of the entire community.
TLS has therefore undertaken to host the Web-a-Thon fundraiser, from now through Pesach, on behalf of Tomchei Shabbos, to help provide over 1,500 families in our community with all Yom Tov food essentials, from wine and matzoh to fish, meat, poultry, potatoes, produce, canned goods and more. The size and scope of the Pesach distribution effectively makes it an organization onto itself, with its own staggering, $1.5 Million budget.
TLS is offering the Sponsor-a-Seder program, which provides donors of $147 and above the opportunity to underwrite a family’s entire Pesach Seder
The first 5 Sedorim were sponsored by TLS.
