Charges Being Filed Against Tenured Teacher

courtBOE Chesky Seitler confirmed to TLS that Tenure charges will be filed against the Lakewood teacher caught acting inappropriately in class. The teacher, who the board fired last week despite opposition from the board Attorney, has not been allowed back to school since January, and the charges will determine if the teacher will be paid for the last two months or not, Seitler said.

Details of the case are not being released until the charges have been filed he said.

It was earlier reported on TLS that the teacher was reportedly caught twice on video acting inappropriately with students while the school was in session. TLS.

  1. This leads one to believe legal charges were filed against this teacher
” Charges Being Filed Against Tenured Teacher”
    however then it states ”
” Tenure charges will be filed against the Lakewood teacher ”
What exactly does that mean ??? Who are they filing charges with ?
It will be interesting to see exactly what the charges are and why the shroud of secrecy with making it know what those charges are

  2. the teacher should not be allowed to be a teacher anywhere! period!
lets get real ,the word teacher should be or used to be one of respect ,now it seems to be a joke.

a teacher has one of the most important jobs in the country.Anyone who violates that trust should be thrown out of the system and charge with any violation they commit.

  3. Before a tenured teacher can be fired they are supposed to be suspended with pay while the board files tenure charges with the state. Tenure charges are a process in which the teacher is entitled to a fair hearing against the accusation. Tenure charges are expensive for the board. Generally the board will threaten a teacher with the charges and force a resignation. However, if the teacher did not resign on his/her own, then he/she probably did not act inappropriately and has a case against the school for being fired without the due process. The board once again has no regard for contracts. The teacher was not acting inappropriately for the record. The board attorney recognized that there is a process for terminating a tenured teacher.

  4. “Why was the attorney opposed? If the teacher is a threat to our students, we don’t want him/her in class.”
because he knew that the proper protocol was not followed and noe due to that the BOE is open to a lawsuit

  5. Kudo to the school board for looking out for all of Lakewood’s kids! Because of protocol, it is possible this teacher would have harmed more children before stopped. Thanks to the board, the problem was nipped in the bud.

  6. to Charedi Out of Town says:
Thats an assumption as we still do not know what the charges are
I see some think its OK to break rules when its to their liking, don’t get me wrong I’m not defending the teacher here I’m defending how it should have been properly handled ,We are a system of rules and laws that need to be followed , if we do not we are no better than governments that trample on everyone rights.
What the BOE did was wrong ,he would have been suspended so the issue of harming more children is false .
Again you cannot pick and choose which rules you will follow and which one you won’t

  7. my son goes to LHS, and there is a teacher there that they are trying to get a “paper trail” on so they can get her out of the school. Today, my son started texting me tell me that this same teacher was “starting” with him, yet again. I called the school, immediately. Told the secretary what was going on, she told me to “hold on, i’ll connect you to guidance”. I was sooo mad, i asked her, “why would i need guidance??” ” get security to get my son outta that class room now!!”
By the time i left the Dr.’s office, i received the phone call that my son was suspended for being disrespectful to her. Another 4 days my son has to be outta school. This isn’t the 1st there has been problems with this teacher, she gets into the kids faces, yelling at them, asking them “what they’re made of”, she challenges them almost, and this is supposed to be a teacher not only in our school system, i heard she also teaches sunday school. It’s sad that teachers “some at” kids the way they do, and talk to them like they’re grown. But the second one of these kids curse back or get up to leave, they are the ones that get into trouble. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again….. the school is sinking n sinkin fast!!!!
ohhh and does anyone kno y there is a “swastika” on the “blue” wall when u 1st walk in the HS???? i asked n a teacher told me that it’s part of the project on the other wall. wow seriously, b4 i saw the “project” on the other wall, my eyes were takin 2 the Big swastika, sad, but, like i say, “welcome 2 Lakewood” took a pic if no1 believes me

  8. Did you realize your son texting during class is violating the school boards “no electronics” policy? Perhaps he was being challenged to put the phone away and didt like it?

Please call the LBOE and file a report directly with Ms. Silva or Dr. Mercora. The phone number is 905-3636.

The attorney was against the motion because he knows the law. Tenure laws for teachers must be changed. Wtite your congressmen, write the governor.
