A Tent City resident was arrested this morning after refusing to accept housing and leave the encampment, officials confirm to TLS.
Police arrested long-time resident Alex Libman around 8 a.m. on either Trespassing or Contempt charges, an official told TLS.
“He clearly said he won’t leave before being arrested,” an official said. “He said he won’t leave without a fight.”
Township Attorney Michael D’Cicco tells TLS the resident was offered placement multiple times, but refused.
There are only several residents remaining from the official census list who need to be placed, Deputy Mayor Albert Akerman confirms to TLS.
All others who remain at the encampment after being offered housing, or those not on the official census list, risk being arrested and evicted.
There are several dozen structures which still need to be torn down, before the encampment is permanently closed.

About time.
He’s one of the leaders of tent city movement.
He’s been convincing the residents to stay there and not move into the housing that they were offered.
What are they going to put around tent city to insure that aliens don’t come back? Are they going to fence it up or remove all trees?
LPD are the most professional LE officers around.
About time Lets move on and put up some new housing desprately needed for legal residents of this town.
The article should have been titled ”Tent City Squatter” or “Tent City Anarchist” as he clearly refuses to abide to law and order.
It’s so sad that he is insistent on not trying to make a better life for himself. Makes you really shake your head..
