Talking About Tires…An Honest Store Owner

white oaks car_wmAs reported here last week, a Yungerman had two of his car tires stolen and replaced with milk crates (Pictured). The Yungerman, relayed the following story to TLS. The Yungerman went to have new tires and rims replaced at the ‘Retired’ tire shop on Route 88. The owner replaced the tires and he was on the way. The Yungerman received a call from police a couple days later that his tires had been recovered and the thief was arrested-as reported here. The Yungerman went back to tell the shop owner about his old tires. Without hesitation, the shop owner removed the newly installed tires and replaced them with the original tires. He then returned the check for the full amount  to the Yungerman.

  1. I was there today the owner worked on my tire for a while and had the tire put back on at no cost. Pass the word around when you go to RETIRE you get good quick in and out honest service. THANK YOU

  2. I went over a screw approx 3 months ago on a Sunday afternoon and didn’t know where to go for repair at a decent price without waiting forever.. I heard about this place (the siman was the big tire in front of the building.) I went over there and the owner brought out 2 chairs for me & my friend to sit in the shade and enjoy the nice breeze while the repair took place (which btw was completed in no time..) and I was more than pleased with the cost..

May the friendly proprietor have a succesful and sweet new year!!

  3. so he’s a nice guy because he put the orginal tires back on for free and lost money because on the ones the guy drove around for a few days! and what about the guy why did he even go back why “force” this nice guy to be a nice guy? thats not fair! yes he prob did it but let him make some money to.

  4. I agree with Anon 6:54.
Why in the world would he go back to the tire shop “a couple of days” (& who knows how many miles) later? Is it the shop owners problem that the police (who did a great job) found his tires. It’s really not yashrus of the yungerman. Competition is fierce these days and the shop owner figured that he’ll TAKE A LOSS so he can stay in business. The “yungerman” took advantage of him.
Unfortunately, this story is not about honesty, it’s abour DISHONESTY on the part of the yungerman.

  5. anon 907 – calm your liver –

he most probably went back just to put the old ones back but not to return the new ones.

he should have at leastt paid a token fee

  6. To TLS,

The headline for this post is incorrect. it should state…AN Honest, not a honest… even though we are yeshivish if we are posting things on a website we need to sound a little educated! Please make it a priority!
it is a busha for your site.

    K’siva V’chasima Tova!
Keep up all the great, informative work!
    Thank you,
    Rivka

  7. The tires were bought as used tires and Ari took them back with a few more miles on them.A very nice move on his part that he was not obligated to do. The car owner came back just to say that his tires were found not for a refund.

  8. Yeah I love that place. I went there the other day to fix a tire. The owner himself fixed it for me in 10 minuites. No waiting , no hocking. And he charged $8! He could so easily charge $10! Thats what I call looking out for your customers.
