TAKE NOTE: New 3-Way Stop on Lexington Goes into Effect

3-way lexPHOTO: The intersection of 1st Street and Lexington Avenue officially became a 3-way stop. The Township installed the new stop sign yesterday on the Eastbound side of the intersection.

Until now, the intersection near the NJ Transit station had a stop sign Westbound on First Street, and Southbound on Lexington, but no stop sign Eastbound on First Street.

  1. why has the township powers to be messed with one way streets, stop signs, 3 way, 4 way, round a bouts, etc. Do you all see a pattern here. How about let the EXPERTS make the calls, not people who make knee jerk reactions to NON ISSUES

  2. why did we need this, traffic was fine till now with the new pattern? maybe to give some more tickets to the over taxed residents of the Lakewood community. sad

  3. This intersection has seen near-accidents as a result of the stop sign situation. Drivers who stopped at the existing two stop signs many times did not realize that there was no stop sign for traffic heading to Lexington Avenue from Clifton Avenue and failed to give them right of way. In addition, many drivers coming from Clifton thought that they did have to stop, leading to much confusion.
