PHOTO: A suicidal man barricaded in a Lakewood apartment drew a response from the SWAT team, police confirm to TLS.

Police received a call around 9 PM Wednesday night about a man threatening suicide inside an apartment, and began negotiating with the man through another party inside the home. The man had multiple legal weapons in his home, police said.

After immediate negotiation’s reportedly failed, the SWAT team was called in, and the building was evacuated as police continued to try and bring a peaceful resolve.

About an hour later, the man peacefully surrendered to police and was transported to the hospital for evaluation, Lakewood Police Captain Steve Allaire told TLS.
