Suspicious package at Toms River bus shelter prompts bomb squad response

A suspicious package at a bus shelter in Toms River prompted the response of the bomb squad, police say.

At approximately 11:00 AM today, multiple police units were dispatched to the bus shelter located at the corner of Hooper Avenue and Fischer Boulevard for a suspicious package.

The area was shut down as a precautionary measure until the package could be examined.

“New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad responded and determined there was no threat,” police said. “The area was deemed safe and the roads have been reopened.”

Investigating detectives are Detective John Turner, Detective Louis Santora and Detective John Bajcic.
