VIDEO & PHOTOS: A suspicious package left near Police Headquarters prompted a response from the Ocean County Sheriff’s and the State Police Bomb Squad. The unattended package was discovered near the main entrance to the Municipal building at around 7:45 PM, prompting the police to close off 3rd Street, and evacuate the building while determining the bag’s contents.
The Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The Bomb Squad gave the all clear at about 8:45 PM.
The bag turned out to be personal belongings.
With the number of suspicous packages(and always at the same location) Lakewood should have it’s own bomb squad!
Lakewood should have a lot of resources to protet the public but when you deny that there are problems and act like an ostrich and keep your head in the sand. Its easy to say “I did not know”.
Put a camera outside of all entrances. At least there will be a video of whoever left the package.
It is always better to be safe than to be sorry.
most suspicious packages turn out to be innocent forgotten packages.
i keep saying, fine the people who are this careless/reckless….
another homeless person left their dirty clothes.. same thing everytime
cordon off the area and call the state police, let them find the dirty clothes this time.
i am sure that the lpd would love to have their own bomb squad. please try to convince all of the residents that their taxes will only go up a little bit. my question would be why are there so many in approximately the same location?
