Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder on Police Officer Surrenders after Discovering he was Wanted

Dechert, RobertThe man wanted for the attempted murder on a police officer has surrendered, police said today. “On The morning of November 3, 2014 Robert Dechert was arrested at his home in Lakehurst New Jersey,” TRPD said. “After realizing through several media outlets that he was wanted, Dechert surrendered by phoning Lakehurst Police Department.”

Lakehurst Police officers, along with the assistance of Manchester Township Police Department, took him into custody without incident. He was transported to Toms River Police Headquarters where he was processed for his charges. He was then transferred to the ocean County Jail where he remains on $500,000 bail.
