One in three men feels unsafe when in a car with his wife behind the wheel, results of a British survey have revealed. The study – conducted by British online research company OnePoll.com – surveyed 3000 men, asking them for their attitudes about women’s behavior behind the wheel. It found that men often pushed their feet down involuntarily when their wife or partner was late to hit the brakes.
Other men regularly spent part of a journey gripping the edges of the passenger seat.
A spokesman for OnePoll.com said the study showed that most men felt they were better drivers than the women in their lives.
”They believe they concentrate a lot better, read road situations more quickly and clearly and have better reactions,” he said.
”One in five even went as far as to say they were never able to relax when their other half is driving.”
The study also found one in five couples have argued due to the other one’s driving.
One in 10 men felt it necessary to ask their wife to pull over so they could take the wheel. Adelaidenow.
This is making me LOL.
Good to know men have feelings, though.
This article describes exactly how I feel when my husband is driving.
This is so untrue.its the total opposite.we women feel this towards men driving!!
This story is SO ‘lifnei iver’…
Just how many of the accidents just listed today were caused by women? NONE!!!! Maybe you men should learn to drive better so all of females can feel safer on the road!
This is not a scientific study – it’s a survey of opinions. Did they survey the women too?
As a medic for מדא I respond to many accidents on a daily basis and I see more often that it’s a women driver drive safely
So how come my husband can relax and fall asleep when I drive and I can’t sleep when he drives? I wish I could have a driver like me do the driving when I’m tired, so I could fall asleep. AT night I always end up doing most of the driving because my husband keeps telling me he’s going to close his eyes!
I am not comfortable when my husband drives he always takes the longest ways to get somewhere!!! And if another car tries to cut him off or does not follow the law he flips out. I have to remind him to keep his cool all the time!
That 1 in 3 number sounds awfully conservative!
Let me tell you insulted females something, some of the best drivers are ladies but on a general basis women are scary drivers. They are on the cell,, giving their kids snack bags,,while putting on makeup all at once. The next time one of you are not doing this, take a look around & count how many are. I can’t tell how many bewildered mommy’s are in accidents. Hashem please watch over them.
I will admit that guys drive crazy, and also that my wife is a pretty decent driver. I still get nervous when I’m in the passenger seat though. I’d say it’s a guy insecurity thing when we’re not in control. Not trying to say I, or anyone else, is a control freak, but the fact is is that our nature is to be in control. That’s how Hashem made us! So when we’re not, it makes us feel anxious.
The fact remains, however, that women do – in general – drive more carelessly than men. Sometimes it’s because they’re TOO careful, and often it’s because they don’t realize all the traffic patterns that a guy just ‘chaps’ in his head instinctively.
Whatever the case, men drive like morons, and so do women. And there are men that drive great, and plenty of women that do also! It’s like any other skill in life. Math for example…
