The black Odyssey. I don’t even understand the question
You can’t make a turn if there’s no room for you to get onto the street
I disagree. Its not clear to me that the Odyssey could see the situation on Hope until pulling up to where he did. However, there is a good 2.5 sec in the video from when he stopped short until the Charger blew by and sideswiped him. If you are watching the road at 45 mph, that is enough time to observe potential oncoming traffic (and there was none) and swerve slightly to the side.
Wow! thought that accidents only happen at Chai Urgent Care!
Traffic Congestion Arraigned In Court On Charges of Bottlenecking, Gridlocking & Obstruction of Vehicular Movement
Lakewood authorities are blaming ‘Traffic Congestion’ for an accident that occurred Tuesday at the intersection of County Line Road and Hope Chapel Road.
Traffic Congestion, a repeat offender, was arraigned in court on Wednesday and charged with several counts of ‘Bottlenecking’, ‘Obstruction of Vehicular Movement’ and ‘Extreme Gridlocking’.
Prosecutors are reportedly seeking a stiff jail sentence for the defendant who has a long record of blocking traffic and causing multi vehicle accidents.
The defendant arrived in court several hours after the arraignment hearing was scheduled to begin, due to what his attorneys described as “a long line of cars that prevented him from arriving on time.”
Lakewood residents, for years, have excoriated the defendant on the TLS website, faulting him for causing “excruciating agony and extreme discomfort” to thousands upon thousands of NJ motorists.
“The defendant has gotten way out of control these last several years,” one Lakewood resident told the Traffic Daily News website on Wednesday, “I’ve registered complaints about him on multiple occasions on the TLS website, to no avail.”
“Hopefully, the days when Traffic Congestion, a notorious repeat offender, causes me to arrive late to davening are done with once and for all,” the Lakewood resident said. “However, I’m a pessimist by nature, hence, I’m pretty certain that this notorious road nuisance will be out and about in a matter of days, doing his usual thing, and causing extreme bottlenecking and untold agony to thousands upon thousands of NJ motorists. Oy!”
The township. For putting up the light on 14th and Hope which causes Hope to get all backed up. PLEASE SHORTEN THE GREEN FOR 14TH SO THEY DONT FILL UP HOPE!!!
Agreed that the Township and County need to do better.
How is it that 10-15 cars see an accident like that (slamming into the side of a minivan! who knows if kids are inside?) and no one bothers to get out of their car and make sure that everyone is ok? No doors opening, just a bunch of motionless cars. Frankly, its disturbing.
My opinion is the dodge is at fault. The odyssey is in command of the intersection with plenty of time for the other vehicles to slow down and get out of harms way.
Cars going straight have the right away. The turning van isn’t supposed to enter the “box” or the intersection until the path is cleared to turn. The vans driver failure to observe the bottlenecking ahead of them is their own fault. It falls under “obstruction of traffic” and/or “failure to yield the right of way”.
@booyah you are correct. That’s the law. You’re one of the other Car was on His phone very possible, but it still won’t change the outcome of whose fault this accident was
As booyaa stated, NJ law requires you to stop at the white line and proceed when it is clear for you to make the turn. This video doesn’t have sound so you can’t hear the odd sound the Dodges tires made right before impact, like he never attempted to apply his brakes, just swerve a bit to try to avoid the accident. He was also trying to beat the red light which didn’t help either. There is a simple fix for this intersection, but the county engineer doesn’t seem to want to do it even though it’s been presented to township and county officials numerous times over the years.
The New Jersey State Department of Motor Vehicles will be at fault if the Honda Odyssey driver isn’t retested.
