The truck is clearly at fault. whats the shaila? you cant make a left turn till all the oncoming traffic clears. maybe retake your permit test…
Actually the truck is at fault but not for the reason you stated. He made a left 1 or 2 seconds after his arrow already turned red hence the oncoming traffic starting to begin…
Actually, there’s no way to know about the arrow because you can’t see it.
The one making the right turn usually has right of way unless his light was red.
The one making the left does not have right of way unless he was stuck in the intersection when his light turned red.
So the answer depends on what the traffic light showed at the time.
Incorrect. The left turn arrow that you can’t see, has a corresponding right turn arrow for hope turning right onto County Line, which is visibly off. Truck driver should be arrested, and lose his license.
@Berel
Why arrested, why lose license?
I’m glad you’re not G-d or none of us would make it through Rosh Hashanah chvs.
Truck Driver Was wrong, but the question i have was, Didnt the car see him in front of him?
I guess it may make sense though, once you are in a turn you are looking ahead, so may be true that he legitimately didnt see him.
not sure.
Not so fast. If the left turn arrow?ead still on then the other car is?at fault , because the car would still have a “no right turn on red” and that would still be in effect TILL the left turn arrow is off.
However, if the left turn arrow was no longer on, then the car has the right of way, as stayed by others.
However you slice it, the truck is at fault
The car clearly had the right of way. By the time they realized the truck wasn’t giving it to them it was too late to stop.
I hope that even if you don’t post my comment, you will still take my valid points into consideration
There is a green arrow at times for right turning cars. There is also a sign right turn permitted after stopping.
What did the dash cam show regarding the color of the lights.
BTW in the NJ Statute of red light, it also states Yellow means stop, unless one is traveling the stated speed limit and is too close to stop safely
I had to recheck for myself yesterday because I thought I was losing my mind. The only signs on CLR eastbound regarding the traffic light is “no right on red” and “delayed green”. Also the only green arrow there is for cars coming out of Hope to go eastbound on CLR.
the truck did not make a correct left even if the light was in his favor. He was supposed to go straight into the intersection with his wheels going straight and stop. When the traffic cleared up, he was supposed to make the turn. He started the turn way before he entered the intersection. I agree that people must review the rules of driving every once in a while.
….Depends if the turning arrow was on or not.
Truck had a green arrow, question is did he start his turn with a green arrow in which case he had right of way or did he start when it was yellow in which case he didn’t have right of way.
The car seems to have the right of way, as you see the other car on his side began to move as well which means it was green on their side and the turning arrow for the truck was red
Having said that, don’t the car and truck drivers have EYES 👀????
Clearly both drove right into each other without any hesitation, sad!
While the truck driver is culpable of violations, he was already in the process of completing his turn & the driver making a right turn failed to recognize that and that’s why he got hit!.
That car driver was blind
They were both at fault. Truck for failure to yield, car didn’t reasonably try to avoid an accident. Truck made his turn as the light transitioned from a yellow turn signal to a green light, even though he had plenty of time to stop. The car was waiting with a red light and accelerated when the light turned green, even though the truck was already in the intersection making the turn. You are legally required to make an effort to reasonably avoid an accident. The car accelerated from a stop into the side of the truck and continued to accelerate after impact. I had a front row seat for this one. Many of the above responses are the reason I drive as little as possible around here. NYJ was closest (and right about cutting the corner), but in this instance the truck was working off a permissive light which NYJ might not have known.
very good comment
Theres a reason why you always take the blame in NJ and you’re insurance will go up whether you were at fault or not. In this case, you see the reason clearly. Truck driver was making a left and so should have been more careful. But car driver has himself to blame too because he was not being defensive.

I’ll add both did not use their turn signal indicator.
