  1. Somehow many children and teenagers that I see riding bikes or scooters aren’t wearing helmets.
Even if you ride properly, but especially if you are going to go close to or through traffic, at least wear a helmet.

    • Sadly, many kids think that helmets are “dorky” looking. So, forget about mandatory helmet laws! Forget about common sense safety practices! Doesn’t apply to Yidden who are protected by living in an עִיר התּוֹרָה…(really, people actually think this? and pay the price for their indifference).

  2. I’m shocked that parents allow kids to use scooters and similar. The Rabbonim and Mechanchim should issue a ban. It’s a real danger and there’s no reason in the world any kid in any town needs these things. I think it’s very negligent

  3. I take issue with the words “was struck by a vehicle”.
The driver of the car was going very slow. Slower than the scooter. The vehicle didn’t strike the scooter. The scooter struck the vehicle!

  4. If you want your kids to be safer, then skip the scooters and get them full on motorcycles. At least they have proper signals and lighting and are licensed. Hopefully they’ll know the rules of the road as well.
