  1. Not good enough the ocean County and Lakewood Township need to get all traffic light up at Oak st and Route 9 and East 7th st and Brook Rd. There is very high dangerous area. Also need widen the Route 9. It making traffic very backed up. It enough of this nonsense. We need make Lakewood better road and more traffic lights.

  2. Looks like the minivan stopped to let the other car through the intersection. Never trust someone who waves you on. You need to check anyways.

  3. Pure conjecture, but it looks like by the black van (vehicle going straight) stopping, gave off the impression that it was a four way stop which in turn caused the poor decision to go through the intersection without looking. I have watched the clip multiple times and still have no idea what the black van was trying to do, but its always important to follow the basic rules of the road, right of way etc. People tend to think that the little things don’t matter much, not signaling when turning, being “nice” to someone who doesn’t have the right of way when there are other vehicles on the road etc. Your poor decision have ramifications even if you might personally walk away unscathed..

  4. Well, another 2 weeks, another crash. Let the discussion begin as to who is at fault. But that’s not even the point; that intersection is horribly dangerous. Interestingly enough, in this particular incident, or accident as it were, the Black van, who had the right of way, DID stop when she came to Ridge Ave. I hope Lkwd Twsp Traffic & Safety comes up with a solution. And Soon.

  5. Very sad to see another accident there again with the township still not putting up a traffic light or a 4 way stop sign to stop these accidents from happening

  6. I have seen live, 2 accidents over there!! unfortunately! Its very simple a TRAFFIC LIGTHT will help!! I have been saying this ever since!

  7. The Camry was speeding so the Odessy had to wait and the Avalon did not see the speeding Camry until it was too late.

The Avalon is at fault but the Camry deserves a ticket for speeding and endangering others and a crosswalk.

    Both serious violations

  8. @NotAgain is 100% right – we’ll discuss who is at fault BUt in reality, the township is. And I love how the article ends ” County And Twsp officials are looking for a solution” – This is taking way too l ong !! What takes so long !! Find a solution !! Ither 4-wat stop or traffic late !! Flip a coin !!

  9. It would be nice if people would use turning signals when they plan on turning. I don’t know how many close calls I have had with people who suddenly slow down to turn. If the minivan would have had their turn signal on, this may not have happened. Looks like the car that was hit may have had it’s view obstructed, also if you have the right of way and are making a left turn, pull partially into the intersection. If the pack minivan is partially in the intersection with its turns signal on, this doesn’t happen.

Not saying that the only reason this happened, but this is basic driving 101

  10. The minivan driver did turn on the left blinker and pulled into the intersection to make the turn. The silver van used proper caution waiting for the car going down Ridge to pass. The sedan however, paused at the corner of Ridge, looked to the left, then faced front, and with hardly a glance to the right drove straight across the intersection. You can the see head movements of the driver inside the car. I live in the area and believe a 4 way stop sign is the way to go.

  11. this is crazy I am putting a the big concern aside of injuries or death from these accidents for a split second.
and lets look at the money side 2 newer cars and a new minivan this adds up to a lot of damage just think if we put up a four way stop sign it would have been paid for many times over with this accident alone and if you add up a few months worth probably pay for the whole light!

  12. What no one noticed is that the silver van stopped a full vehicle length past the stop sign, contributing to the confusion at the intersection. This is NOT to say the silver van is at fault, but it is amazing how many people do not stop at the stop signs in Lakewood, but only stop when the front end of their vehicle is practically into the intersection. As I’ve said in the past: The red octagon signs with the white letters that say S T O P mean that you’re supposed to stop your vehicle at the sign, not 10 or 20 feet past the sign.

  13. On ridge the speed is 45,before the intersection there is a warning that speed is drop to 35 and than next to the school it’s 25 with speed bumps, simple solution: changing the speed limit to 25 already from NH and adding more speed bumps. Another problem is that the shul doesn’t have proper parking and some times the intersection is full of parking cars that are blocking the view, maybe no standing any time signs will help.

  14. Accidents at this intersection are starting to become a daily occurance.
Who could we speak to to put up a stop sign at this intersection or at least a 4 way stop sign!? I myself have had several times where an accident was close at this very intersection!!! how much longer are we gonna have to wait???
