that bus stopped ilegaly on a slant.
doesnt matter
The bus had FLASHING lights which means STOP
neis
@ just saying you are right red car prob thought it was turnig/also when on slant its hard to see red lights.
All the other cars on the street were able to tell that the bus was letting kids off, so they stopped. Not rocket science.
Also, it doesn’t look like there was anywhere to turn, so it should have been obvious that the bus was letting someone off.
BS!! When on a slant it is NOT hard to see Red Flashing Lights!! And three bus was NOT on a slant!! It is ILLEGAL to pass a School Bus picking up or dropping off kids!!
bus driver trying to get a free left turn huh!!!
Unless I did not see the picture correctly, why did no red
stop sign pop out of the side of the bus as does happen
when school buses in Brooklyn take on or let off children
here ? Furthermore, stopping on a slant is correct if it’s
done together with the pop out stop sign. It’s the fault
of Lakewood buses for not having pop out stop signs.
In Brooklyn, some bus driver’s don’t even engage the red lights when picking up school children. I’ve seen this happen in Williamsburg.
The stop sign is on the driver’s side…
The STOP sign pops out on the DRIVER SIDE of the bus. It is ILLEGAL to pass a School Bus picking up or letting off kids. The lights were flashing.
its ilegal to stop on a slant in nj
Oi vey…It is also illegal to pass on a shoulder.
It’s also ILLEGAL to pass a School Bus picking up or Dropping off kids!!
It was NOT on a slant. It is ILLEGAL to pass a School Bus picking up or letting off kids with FLASHING LIGHTS.
I see these kinds of things all the time. We need to tell bus drivers not to let kids off until the cars around are stopped.
Suppose the cars don’t stop.
When a bus STOPS with Flashing Lights….. ALL cars on BOTH sides are supposed to STOP.
Sometimes they do this slant thing to get a free left turn.
It was NOT on a slant. It is ILLEGAL to pass a School Bus picking up or letting off kids.
Yada yada yada…slant legal, not legal…stop sign out, not out. The excuses offered here are insane. The bus was STOPPED…its LIGHTS WERE FLASHING and clearly visible!!! The driver of the red car was grossly reckless, not giving a hoot about their extremely dangerous action going around the bus, on the shoulder no less. Just TERRIBLE!
It is ILLEGAL to pass a School Bus picking up or dropping off kids!! I saw 2 cars on New Hampshire Ave right before the light on 70, passing a school bus while the Red Lights were flashing. I honked at BOTH of them. The 2nd one had his phone right in front of his face while passing the bus!!
I have yet to see a school bus here in Brooklyn that does
not have a pop out red stop sign on both sides of the bus but you’re right to point out that it doesn’t help to
have it, even on both sides, if the driver doesn’t deploy
it outward when he stops, so maybe this driver had it but didn’t deploy it.
The STOP SIGN is on the DRIVER’S SIDE and it is ALWAYS deployed.
Specs for NY and NJ buses are different. NY has stop signs on both sides of the bus. NJ only has on the driver’s side.
As parents, we need to teach our kids to look both ways before getting off the bus. This is the unfortunate reality that we live in. These near-misses will keep on happening, but it is ultimately up to us to protect our kids.
We need to teach drivers to STOP when a school bus is FLOATING their lights to let off or pick up kids!!
Lakewood is well known as the WILD, WILD WEST! N9 ONE CARES ABOUT CASUALTIES AND CAR ACCIDENTS ARE BIG BUSINESS FOR CAR TOWERS, AND AMBULANCE COMPANIES! ALL IN HOT COMPETITION TO GET TO THE ACCIDENT FIRST! LOOK AT THE STATISTICS FOR ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES!
say what you want bus driver also wrong stopped on slant.
“bus driver nearly kills boy by stopping on slant”.
Shouldn’t the bus drop off the children at the curb?
