A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Route 9 last night was caught on video.

The pedestrian can be seen running from east to west, against the light, right in front of vehicles. He was struck by a southbound vehicle.

It’s unknown if the pedestrian was intoxicated at the time.

  1. Actually tzippy it would be really reckless to walk in front of cars like this guy did. Reflectors are hardly the point. If you walk on the sidewalk and look both ways before you cross (banish the thought!) like your mother taught you when you were 5 years old then no reflectors are needed.

    • Of COURSE reflectors are needed, I dont know where you drive but I’ve had numerous times where I only noticed someone was there when my car was a foot away. Now, they were (generally) on the side, but what if something happened (like a car trying to turn left) and I veered slightly to the right cause I didnt know they were there?

Oh, and the fact that this above case had nothing to do with reflectors doesnt make the point that people should have them moot.

  2. The main problem is that most people don’t wear reflectors, and expect you to see them crossing the street (impossible). I drive a lot at night, and I have almost hit someone too many times to count. I’m begging you all to either wear a reflector, or stay off the road when there’s a car coming. Always expect the car not to see you, as it’s nearly impossible for you to be seen, and please don’t endanger your life unnecessarily.

  3. No! The point is, DON’T cross the street until/unless it is safe to do so!!! A reflector will not save you from being hit by a car if you’re dodging in and out of flowing traffic like an IDIOT!!
