Surveillance Video: Burglar Attempting to Enter Lakewood Home Runs Off After Resident Screams [UPDATE: Suspect Arrested by LPD]

A burglar ran off after being startled by a homeowner during an attempted burglary in Lakewood this evening.

The burglar can be seen on video making his way in from the backyard of the Brookhill area home at approximately 10:40 PM.

The burglar made his way up back deck and attempted the rear door, which was locked.

He then made his way to a side door, which was unlocked. While attempting to open the door, the homeowner, who had been watching him on surveillance video, began screaming, and the burglar ran off.

Police are searching for the suspect.

A similar incident occurred this evening on Carolina Street in Lakewood, though based on the description of the suspect – a Hispanic make wearing a white shirt – it’s unknown if the incidents are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department.

UPDATE 12:08 AM: JUST IN: Lakewood Police have located the suspect and have taken him into custody.
