Lakewood School District Superintendent Winters Sends Letters Requesting COVID Compliance Over Thanksgiving Holiday

Lakewood Public Schools Superintendent Laura Winters sent out letters to staff, parents, and students regarding the upcoming extended Thanksgiving holiday, reminding everyone of the governor’s coronavirus recommendations and requesting their compliance with those rules.

In an initial letter sent to staff members, Superintendent Winters requested that they certify that they kept to the governor’s guidelines over the holiday. However, TLS has learned that, after discussions with “several dedicated staff members,” Superintendent Winters rescinded the certification request, saying that she is confident Lakewood Public School’s teachers and staff will comply by the guidelines, due to their dedication and devotion to their students.

See below for the original letter requesting certification, as well as the amended letter.

  1. I wonder what predicated this letter and a need for a certification ? Interesting to me that neither the county or Lakewood Township health officials signed this letter. This is definetly an over reach of authority if not a violation of the staffs constitutional rights.
