Submitted: This Sunday, at 2:30pm, there will be a gathering of talmidim, family and friends of the Rosh Yeshiva zichrono levracha at the kever of Harav Yisroel Plutchok zt”l in Lakewood.
Together with his brother in law, HaRav Mordechai Rennert Zt”l, Rav Yisroel founded Yeshiva Derech Chaim in 1974 with eight students. Both of them were Talmidim of Hagaon HaRav Chaim Pinchos Scheinberg ZATZAL. The Yeshiva – located at 16th Avenue and 39th Street – grew into a major Makom Torah and now has 1300+ alumni all over the world with a large contingent of them in and around Lakewood.
As their legacy is continued by their children, the current Roshei Yeshiva shlit”a, Rav Moshe Plutchok, Rav Shalom Plutchok, Rav Chaim Rennert and Rav Reuven Rennert, continue to expand the yeshiva with this zman having increased registration.
The gathering on Sunday at the kever is an opportunity for those who were unable to participate in the levaya due to the pandemic restrictions and want to give kavod to the Rosh Yeshiva zt”l.
Tehillim will begin at 2:30 at the kever, followed by divrei zikaron. The kever is located behind the chapel and up the small hill (613 Ramsey Ave, Lakewood).
World is not the same
