In an effort to compensate upset customers over the cancelled Miami Boys Choir concert which was set to take place at a larger event this Wednesday in Lakewood, the event’s producers – Suki & Ding – have offered to give out free CDs. The organizers say they will give each family a free CD of either Uncle Moishy or Miami Boys Choir, as well as free Uncle Moishy coloring books.
The event will be taking place Wednesday at Lake Terrace.
HOW ARE LAKEWOOD FAMILYS SUPPOSED TO WATCH DVDS??????????
It is supposed to be watched only in Brooklyn
We live in lakewood because it was founded and established as a torah town. BH we have das torah that guides us. For those who lack appreciation.. Take the GSP North bound.
I wasn’t planning on sending my kids but now I am going to reconsider. Kol hakavod to suki and ding for listening to daas torah. Even if we may not understand we need to listen!!!!
Sorry. This is not so fair. My wife bought $28 tickets. 4 of them. I wouldntve paid that much just for uncle Moshe. And a dvd doesn’t totally make it right. How bout a partial refund ? Dudi
Lkwd people have to be more open minded…its a new world
I just called. They are giving out CDs, not DVDs.
the poster says cd
to #4 lkwd relax; your comment sounds eerily familiar…i.e. when maskilim would tell bnei Torah and rabbanim to have an open mind and that it’s a “new world”… the epitome of emunas chachamim is to trust their judgment over your own even when you think they’re overreacting. They see things through a level of sechel and roeh es hanolad that comes through Torah and siyata dishmaya that average people, even smart and learned people, do not.
Kudos to Suki and Ding for listening to The Mashgiach in a respectful and humble manner. My kids will be there and will come home with a CD as well.
my children wanted to go to the concet to see Miami. They are just about outgrown Uncle Moishe. some rumors startted yesterday stated that Miami was still coming -but they are rumors.
I notified my children that if Miami would come i still would not allow them to go to the concert as the Rabbonim of this town did not approve it. we need to back our Rabbonim of Lakewood 100%. personaly i thought it would be a kosher outlet fo my young children. But if the Rabbonim who see, hear and know more than me what is going on – feel that it is not for our community- then i follow their direction. They know best. They are Dass Torah.
any future event must be pre-authorized by local rabbonim.
We need to make a statement that we in Lakewood follow our Rabbonim and Roshey Yeshivas. This is a unique torah community built around the yeshiva. The yeshiva is and will always be the “root and soul’ of this community. When one moves here they must realize it- pros and cons. Fact is there is no place like Lakewood. Torah, chesed, Community… We need to strive to keep it more of a community were one knows each other neighbors and have a RAV. We are growing very fast and i hope we dont lose that appeal.
Can someone plz explain whatsthe issue with miami
From an out-of-towner – please explain to me what the problem is with Miami BC. Their choreographed steps? That some of them attend modern day schools? I’m not understanding the need to “assur” them. I’m ignorant. Their music is loved by youngsters and I find it no different than listening to Fried, MBD, Schwekey, etc.. It seems to me that insinuating that they’re not appropriate is more motzei shem rah than hosting their concert.
to # 13- I do not believe they hold that anything is wrong with the miami boys choir, persay. I think it is just the atmosphere of a concert and everything that comes along with it that they were reluctant to let it in to lakewood. Miami makes great, erliche music and that is why they were allowed to give out cds.
Can youy imagine Rav Chaim Kanievsky or Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman singing Miami?
That’s what’s wrong with it. It is Rock and Roll music supposedly Kashered by fitting it to Pessukim.
BTW I love their music too, but I also love Rock and Roll but because I know it is metamtem the lev I set aside my preferences.
Usually….
