I have been an avid TLS reader for many years. I follow “The Scoop” on all its platforms, as you have been a reliable source of accurate information for a long time. Today, that changed. Because today you crossed the line from being a news organization to being a hack and a shill for liberal Democrats.
I was shocked and disgusted to see that TLS sent a tweet defending Governor Murphy, and saying that he should not have been yelled at while dining out with his family. In doing so, TLS defended a left-wing governor who is a massive hypocrite, and who believes that the rules don’t apply to him.
Politics aside, cursing out @GovMurphy and his family while eating out is absolutely despicable, and should be condemned. It has no place in @NJGov or anywhere in America.
— TLS Editor (@TLSeditor) November 23, 2020
Murphy has been forcing everyone to wear masks in direct violation of the Constitution, he has shut down shuls and schools in direct violation of the Constitution, and now he’s telling us how and when we can eat at a restaurant while he devours a steak with his family??? And we are supposed to sit here and be civil about it? How dare TLS sit on its high throne and tell everyone else that Murphy is right? Murphy and all governors who are doing the same as he is should be shamed in public, even if they are with their families. Oy Larasha Oy Lishcheino!
This is now the third time in the last few months that you guys have come out against freedom, and you have sunk so low in the fairness and accuracy of your reporting that you’re no better than Fox News, which has also lost all credibility.
This is all hypocrisy! This governor has his cops hand out thousand-dollar fines to us for not social distancing but the governor can sit there surrounded by who knows how many people and not hear a peep from anyone because of your sacred “civility?” What about freedom? What about the Constitution? What happened to Live Free or Die?
I am not going to sacrifice my free speech and freedom of opinion to stoop to the levels of TLS. I will not! Freedom of speech is perhaps the last freedom I have left in this doomed country. And I will not allow TLS to be any different! It’s shameful. I will bli’n never look at another TLS article again; at least until you guys shape up and return to accuracy and supporting freedom.
(TLS welcomes your letters by submitting them to letters@thelakewoodscoop.com)
I couldn’t agree more! I was thinking the exact same when I read that post!
Truly disgusting! Or as they say “Enemy of the people”
I think someone forgot to drink his coffee this morning. Next time read TLS in a better mood. Until then….. Feel free to rant and rave!
Maskim!
They said “politics aside” for a reason. I also dislike murphy, but once we as a society stoop to the level of social discorse we lose our humanity and become a 3rd world country. The left does this all the time with their riots, we should be better than that.
Agreed!
I actually think Murphy deserves alot of credit from the frum community, just look at what Cuomo and DeBlasio have done to us yidden. On the other hand Murphy has defended us (even when we might not deserve it). Also, freedom of speech shouldn’t mean a person should curse someone else out, that’s just acting like an animal.
Oh please. Get riled up by more important issues. I certainly don’t like Murphy or the liberal goons who have taken away our constitutional rights. BUT. How can the guy eat without a mask? Of course some of his stupid rules/laws are draconian, but don’t stoop down to his level.
And I’m sure TLS isn’t very worried about your threat. Cutting off your nose to spite your face…
Come on!! Let’s not let our emotions run this high… even if we believe the Governor is wrong for possibly not living up to the standards he asks from us, acting rude and cursing him “and his family” out is wrong. We all do things that we believe is wrong at times, so we shouldn’t be that disgraceful to deal that it’s right to curse someone out because we don’t agree with what they’re doing.
Let’s remember, when we act disrespectful towards others, others act disrespectful towards us! Not that it was “us” acting disrespectful, but let’s just say that it’s nit the way civilized people should be acting!!
Wow. I know this is a public website so the poster may or may not be jewish, so I will comment in general terms. Where have our values gone! We may not agree with someone and we maybe very upset but to curse him out in front of his family is totally out of line. It is disrespectful and quite frankly an embarrassment. For us as jews this is behavior that should be reprehensible. Kudos to TLS for calling it out.
agreed 100%
this letter is a joke! you are the hypocrite. many many ppl in Lakewood has been blatantly disregarding the rules put forth with zero enforcement. thats because of governor murphy
I too cannot stand anything about the governor, including the fact that he unconstitutionally messed up our elections in 2020. That being said I don’t think it’s cool for someone to do what they did. There was nothing they did in order to benefit anyone.
They could have walked over very nicely and said, Mr Governor we disagree with you wholeheartedly and given one or two sentences as to why. They didn’t have to call them all sorts of names in the book, names that I can’t have my kids listen to the video.
Thank you TLS for calling out disgusting behavior.
It’s the disgruntled people who love to bash the governor on your website you should be stopping.
People are entitled to their opinion and may be rightfully angry, but the way they go bashing the Governor is unacceptable!
It is also up to the courts to decide what’s unconstitutional. Not some layperson.
If the writer wishes to take issue with a perceived hypocrisy that is one thing. But clearly she has issue with what she believes is “liberal democrat” Governor Murphy advocates the wearing of masks and against group gatherings it is because he is trying to save lives. If his behavior is hypocritical and not enough information is known, that doesn’t diminish the correct guidance that will lead to less if a loss of life. It is a great practice to practice what we preach, but come yom kippur, when I say viduy it is my sins I am concerned about. What i found most disheartening about all the jewish “news” websites, it is the ease by which
Commentators know what is going on in someone else’s mind. They do allow restaurant s to be open. He was eating with his immediate family, the family he lives with. Was he not distanced from others. I was more concerned with the mainstream media how they ALL covered the Satmar wedding. Olam haemes which behavior is going to be more paramount. I also would recommend the offended writer to read Artscroll’s biography on Rabbi shteinman or Rabbi Trenk and how they handled behavior they thought was wrong. Hevel Hevelim.
Lol this “rebuttal” was for sure written by TLS themselves! #clickbait 😉
Nope. Not Lakewood scoop. I was raised by a Novardoker, Holocaust Survivor. He experienced unmeasurable suffering and witnesed the worse and best in humanity. He risked his life over and over again to save yidden that were not related to him. It is about our Midos. I believe it reflective of us as a community how we behave. We are all responsible for each other. I am not risking anything comparable to what my father risked. If wearing a mask, having smaller weddings, and small gatherings allows me to save a life. I will do it with a smile and not focus on the failings of politicians. I am not in their shoes, but I am in mine. Red the books, I would also suggest A Tzaddik in our time, when Rabbi Levin and his Aishes Chayil were robbed after inviting someone into their home, they both said let us not let this event change our ways and our desire to invite people into our home.
I completely agree with TLS for calling out this reprehensible behavior. Agree or disagree- this is never, ever acceptable.
Hello Hello Please calm down.
I was watching closely for the past few months the Governors of NY & NJ.
Governor Murphy is for sure doing a better job. Over all he is a good man.
He made a few mistakes.
2 wrongs do not make a right. Cursing and yelling at another human being is disgusting and rotten behavior.
murphy is a hypocrite just like his colleagues in california,
Gavel newsom & pelosi.
As a Brooklyn resident, all I have to say is, you Lakewood’ers have it VERY easy compared to what’s happening in Brooklyn. Did your governor send inspectors from literally every single government agency swarming around Lakewood to Harass store owners? Were your schools shut for a few after yom tov? Did your governor literally accuse the jews of spreading Covid on TV? Well mine did. It looks like your governor has a great relationship with the Jewish community and is actually working with you, unlike ours.
Maybe be a little thankful to your governor instead of bashing a news site that “dared” to say something positive regarding the governor?
Tldr;
Someone’s mad at TLS because they posted something Mad Person disagreea with
Loved it.
Look, humiliating a human being in public while he’s eating supper *with his family* is inexcusable.
His politics do not give anyone a right to infringe on his private family time.
That’s right! No one has the right to infringe on another’s private family time.
Only Gov. Murphy has that right.
Murphy’s law.
Can’t argue, this guy has a valid complaint.
Ollo ollo ollo yo yo yo what in the sock wearing duck is getting you all riled up?? They said “politics aside”. Relax poppy. I understood the TLS article very very different. All they were saying was “dont curse at anyone in front of their family”. Thats it! Why the sudden rush of hate?
Dnt yell & curse at someone in public in front of their family.
Death letter writer.
Don’t be an idiot.
You may not agree with Governor Murphy and his policies to try and keep NJ safe.
Some may have been controversial.
But that does not make it right to harass his family!
Imagine a yid that was hypocritical in business and suddenly his family is eating at a restaurant and gantz mishpacha starts getting attacked.
Leave the kids alone.
Send a letter to Murphy in his office and let him know what bothers you.
But for Hashem’s sake – leave the family out of it!!
(P.S. I say this as a child of an extremely honest yid someone that was attacked in community politics and us children suffered the consequences because people brought family into their stupidities. You have a problem with a mahalach, take it up with the person in private away from their family.)
TLS rocks and did the right thing and kiddush Hashem with their tweet.
P.p.s. The governor has been going out of his way to work with leaders in our community to help keep our yeshivos open. So cut him some slack please.
@BrooklynResident if you’re looking to move to Lakewood or surrounding areas hit up Efraim Feder. He’s a realtor here under Imperial and he’s really in it for the Brooklyn mass exodus crowd. Idk how you still live in NY. And regarding this letter about Murphy sympathizing, I think yelling at the governors family in entree is not a smart move and calling it out was a great move by TLS. Let’s all be civil again not disrespectful and disgruntled. Ty
The author of this letter has the patience of a 1 year old.
Governor Murphy is a nice calm patient guy. He is trying to contain a killer virus released upon the world by the communists which has already murdered 250,000 Americans and turned millions of Productive middle aged Americans into weak disabled cripples; and at the same time he is going out of his way more than most other governors to please everyone and make everyone comfortable during this dark time.
Well said. Many frum people feel that in order to be a proper political conservative, you have to deny that the virus is serious and needs serious steps to keep it in check. Governor Murphy is trying to do just that and at the same time has reached out to our community to work together. Not every rule means the government is taking over and not every Democrat is evil.
I do not agree that he is going out of his way more then most Gov. “I FEEL” is how he makes a lot of his orders. Many of these so called saver laws killed people. Many people felt that because they could not be with there loved ones in the hospital that is what killed them. What about the people in car crashes that were Covid deaths what about the nursing homes?
He is enjoying his power to much wake up and smell the coffee
I find it ironic that the writer of this letter talks about fairness, but considers anything against his views, unfair. Fairness means presenting both sides evenhandedly. Hardly any frum media has presented both sides because it’s assumed, rightfully so, that most frum people are politiaclly conservative. That doesn’t mean that frum people can’t read about an opposing opinion. Real journalism means that the facts are presented and the reader has to form his own opinion. You don’t see that anywhere anymore, not in the secular media and especially not in the frum media. Stop getting so riled up about seeing an opinion that you don’t share. You can disagree, but you don’t have to curse out a post that just happens to not share your opinion. Nothing will happen to any of us if we see something positive about a Democrat. There are 2 sides to every story.
I agree with the letter writer. The women in the Video lost her job because of Murphys incompetence. She will never get the opportunity again to see or speak to him in person, so she used the opportunity to speak her mind.
Are you guys serious?
Open your eyes he’s amazing governor Murphy which other democratic governor is working with the Jewish community like this?
He hasn’t bothered us a drop all schools and shuls are open and he even let us have the jbiz expo to help economic development!
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!
Why does he have to wear a mask when eating ??im embarrassed of this article and these comments very sad ppl here
Totally disagree, Murphy has been a blessing for us during this time! Our old gov was the same bully as coumo and would have shut down our shuls, schools, etc. Murphy has been patient and worked well with us, mush hakoras hatov is in order!
Directly violate the Constitution? The powers of the federal government are created by the constitution and it has not more power than that given to it but the state has all powers UNLESS restricted by the Constitution. That is called reserved powers, to be specific, the police power. So unless that power is restricted by a particular clause in the Constitution, then the state retains it. Last time I looked there was nothing about face masks in the Constitution and it would be pretty hard to fit this restriction into the Fourteenth Amendment.
Please hold your tongues and don’t adopt the ways of nations. Go to shiurin, Speak to your Daas Torah -Strive to make your own actions responsible
Forcing us to wear masks is unconstitutional! The only reason why they ask us to do that is so we have difficulty to breath and then we cannot think straight and then the Democrats take everything! Now they are coming to our Shuls, together with the Illuminati which have always been behind this!
@ Yaakov-As an ICU Nurse I can assure you that if you don’t like the mask, you’ll definitely hate the ventilator. Stop being so selfish, The hospitals are filling up again and staff is burnt out and guess what if we’re busy with Covid patients we don’t have time to respond to the usual stroke, heart attached, MVA patients. Just wear the mask.
wow, be careful what you ask for…. as a New Yorker I’d gladly make an exchange- you give us Murphy and you can take Fredo (Cuomo) and just to show you how grateful I am for taking Cuomo, I’ll throw in Deblasio for free..
I like that sense of humor.
What about freedom? What about the constitution? What about Live free or Die?
Dear letter writer,
This is a Jewish website, governed by Jewish values. We have other values that are higher than ‘freedom, constitution and Live Free or Die’. In fact, that last one is positively anti-Jewish.
If you think the freedom not to wear a mask is worth more than your life, I feel sorry for you that you have such a worthless life. I am sure it has more value than you give it credit. A competent therapist can help you find that purpose and value.
Lastly, the governor is the governor of a few million people in New Jersey. Although you may disagree with his policies, his person is not up for debate. He represents all of us, and we respect all of us by respecting him. He may be wrong, we should disagree respectfully, because the NJ citizenry deserves respect and he is their representative.
Yours truly,
Ruth
At least he’s better then king cuomo.
Mispallel bishlom malchus. Clearly cursing him out publicly isnt the right thing to do. Time for you to learn that derech eretz kodmah letorah. I hope this was either clickbate or that the letter writer was joking. What a sad society. This writer never learned chumash or mussar. The thought that to curse someone out publicly is the right thing to do!? Its incredulous! Hashem yaazor! I’m baffled.
