Submitted: The Pickup G’mach-Corona Won’t Get us Down

[Submitted by the G’mach] Here at the Pickup G’mach, we’re picking up and hanging out beautiful, used clothing so families in our area can benefit and clothe their children in a bakovidik fashion in time for yom tov, especially those hit hard by Corona.

We are trying to add more families so they can benefit despite many other resale and closeout stores being closed.

That’s why we need YOU! If you have clothing you’d still put on your kids-meaning, it’s still in good condition (no stains) and is current (it wasn’t stored away for more than a year), we’ll come pick it up.

We do not charge for pickups (but please don’t take advantage either and send us items we don’t take, i.e. stained, torn, pilled, ladies suits and jumpers, men’s…).

What We’re All About

If you spend time, money and effort on your children’s clothing, would like others to appreciate it, would hate for it to be wrinkled or rained on in the donation process, AND would rather it be picked up, rather than hauling bag after bag from your trunk to an already filled bin, then this lightly-used, current styles children’s clothing g’mach pickup service is for you! (try saying that fast!)

We are a free pick-up service for current and gently-used or new children’s clothing.

The Pickup G’mach is a Lakewood clothing gmach. We operate a “boutique” and the neighborhood Kollel families “shop” for free, “buying” the clothing that we collect, helping them to get your beautiful, still new looking clothing without the expense. The Pickup Gmach is operated is under the haskama of R’ Yaakov Forscheimer, Shlita.

What We Take:

We take desirable clothing, not unwanted clothing. (You know…skip the scuba skirts, sweater sets, baggy or torn pants, stained, pilled or washed out stuff, things that have been sitting in the attic, items been passed down more than once…Sorry to specify, but now you know what that means!). Uniforms: Give to a local uniform gmach.

Please understand this is not what we’re looking for because it will not look acceptable for another use for (regular, nice) Lakewood families. Simla, a recycling company that takes unusable clothing will pick up all that. You can text to arrange a pick up at 732-746-5533.

HOW TO DONATE TO THE PICKUP GMACH-3 Easy Steps:

1. Sort through your clothing, giving us what we ask for: Size 0-16 girls, 0-12 boys, current and stylish, excellent condition clothing (from a season or two ago, at most)

2. Put in a garbage bag, seal (from rain), and label “Gmach”

3. Place outside and THEN text us with your address once it’s out at 848-525-6961 (TEXT-ONLY line for pickups). Leave it out until picked up. Do not take it back in!

Pickups are done Sunday-Thursday night. Please don’t text late Thursday night or Friday.

Tizku l’mitzvos and thank you, of course!

Note: We are a small scale gmach run by volunteers out of a basement location. We make sure to give all our extras to other Lakewood gmachim (pre-sorted, only the nice things), so they can help more people than we are able to service.

You may contact us by text to inquire if we have any bags of free extra clothing our gmach isn’t using for the taking.
