To the Editors of The Lakewood Scoop,
I’m reaching out today not just as a concerned resident, but as a parent determined to help protect the most vulnerable members of our community: our children.
Every year, innocent children suffer from heat stroke after being left in hot cars. Even a few minutes in a sealed vehicle on a warm day can lead to tragedy. These incidents are not the result of bad parenting – they are accidents that can happen to anyone in a moment of distraction or routine disruption.
We have recently launched a local initiative to provide free car safety alert systems to families in our community. These devices are designed to remind parents to check the back seat before exiting their vehicle. This is a simple and effective safeguard that can prevent heartbreaking consequences.
Our goal is ambitious but deeply necessary: to get this life-saving technology into every car in Lakewood. But we cannot do it alone.
With the generous support of our neighbors, businesses, and community leaders, we can make this vision a reality. Every donation, large or small, goes directly towards purchasing and distributing these safety devices – FREE of charge – to local families.
We’re asking for your help. If you’re able to donate, partner, or help us spread the word, please reach out. Together, we can ensure that no child in Lakewood is left behind in a hot car.
Thank you for your time, your compassion, and your commitment to protecting our children.
Sincerely,
The Diamonds
Where can I get one?
Wow wow! I donated and so should everyone else! This is something that every single person needs and can benefit from!
Thank you for starting this!
Brilliant idea! Kol Hakovod!
I’m surprised this didn’t reach 25k yet – why do we need tragedy to awaken us?! Let’s join them and prevent tragedy!
Dovid, as for your question – This sounds like a wonderful initiative and I believe fully in this concept and would be happy to donate. However there is no mention of who is overseeing the funds (I am sure the Diamonds – as signed, are wonderful people, but I do not know who they are) and little information or ways to contact their org, or claim a device… Please read my comment as coming from the heart -I think this initiative is amazing and I am not trying to be snarky, just some more information may help move the needle and get more people to donate… Really wishing the organizers hatzlacha on this critical cause… May no one know of such tzaar.
Unless your car was made before 2016. These systems are already in place by the manufacturer..ps if you leave your child in a hot car because you are too distracted to remember you have a child in your car is definition “bad parent”.
Tx
For the unsolicited comments!!!!
It sounds like you don’t have much experience being a parent…
Harrumph,
People’s judgement of others can unexpectedly come back to haunt them. G-d forbid.
