Story 56 – (Early March 2021)
The story started in the beginning of February 2021. My wife was cleaning the glass holders of the Shabbos lights on Motzei Shabbos. One of the glasses broke and cut her finger deeply. That night we went to Doctor Mordechai Tarlow, a frum dermatologist in Lakewood. While he was stitching up the injury, my wife needed to take her mind off the stitches, so she asked me to tell the doctor some of the stories of people having ישועות by learning the Chofetz Chaim on Lashon Hora.
I suggest to him that he learn “A Daily Companion”. Doctor Tarlow told me that his wife was already learning this Sefer, and he is going to also start soon.
About six weeks later I heard that his daughter got engaged, and the rumor was that it had to do with the sefer.
On Shabbos he saw me, and jumped up and told me that he had learned it for about six weeks and his daughter, almost 24, got engaged.
Fast forward around a year later, Doctor Tarlow tells me he is happier that he changed his life from the Sefer Daily Companion more than his daughter getting engaged!
Typically learning a daily companion takes about three minutes, Dr. Tarlow added that he is a fast reader and it takes him around two minutes & it literally changed his life.
Rav Elya Brudny said “this will bring the Geula”
Rav Elya Brudny the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir Yeshiva once asked a whole group of בחורים if they are learning the “חפץ חיים” on loshon hora. Most of them raised their hand. A בחור who was there told me that Rav Brudny said “this will bring the גאולה”. When a person learns it and now is more careful with loshon hora he is actually making the גאולה – משיח come. You will get great reward for it and cause Hashem to bring ברכה to כלל ישראל.
Insight of story 56
Insight: Someone told me a beautiful point. He said that most Yidden do not want to say loshon hora. What happens sometimes is that they are talking and they don’t realize that they are saying it. Once they start learning the laws of loshon hora they become aware and it enters the subconscious mind. Now when they are talking, they realize that the conversation is coming to loshon hora and they can stop it. There is a בעל הבית that I know who has been learning it for a few years with his family. He told me that he can already know when the conversation is going towards loshon hora and stop it. Another man who is a teacher told me something similar – he said he has been learning the “Daily Companion” for about 45 days. It makes him have a better life and he can tell when the conversation is going wrong and change it to a different path. If the Chofetz Chaim would come and see what he caused in this world with his writing of the laws of loshon hora, he would be shocked. Hashem is proud of his people that are trying to avoid this big sin of loshon hora and with ס”ד he will bring משיח because of it.

The Rosh Yeshiva didn’t make any promises. He said it as a matter of fact that there wasn’t a family he knows of that didn’t see a yeshuah after learning Sefer Chofetz Chaim. This doesn’t either mean the yeshuah will come exactly as we’d like it to come. We should all be mechazek in Shmiras haloshon because it entails many Mitzvos of Hashem. There’s no way for us to attribute a Yeshuah to any particular zechus unless you are a Baal Ruach Hakodesh.
Beautiful, thanks for posting!!!
About 2 1/2 years ago, I bumped into R’ Menasha, and was inspired to start learning הלכות לשון הרע. Initially, my wife and I read the Concise Chafetz Chaim every night, and I eventually learned the actual ספר. One needs to learn it and carry it out practically. I’m naturally a critical and insightful person. At first, it seemed difficult, but, it has been liberating. I don’t focus on things I will anyway not repeat to others. The world seems like a lighter place.
