I came across a press release dated June 1, 2023 from the National Aerospace Research and Technology Park in Atlantic county that bears revisiting. I will link to the release below, but here is a brief summary:
The National Aerospace Research & Technology Park (NARTP) has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Air Mobility Command (AMC), and the Atlantic County Economic Alliance (ACEA). This agreement establishes a UAS and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) test corridor stretching from New Jersey to Delaware, aimed at evaluating emerging aviation technologies. It supports both military and civilian research, enhancing air mobility capabilities and fostering economic growth in New Jersey’s Aviation Innovation Hub. The initiative includes funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
After seeing a good image of one of the drones caught by a cell phone camera last week, and in comparison to the ones we have been seeing, I believe the drones are a new technology, and the best match to the avionics and size profile (13’x9′) of these drones is the PteroDynamics XP-4. This drone is unique in that it is autonomous, meaning it is flown by artificial intelligence, and it has something called a ‘transwing’ design – meaning, it takes off, lands and hovers using an X wing design and vertical propellers like a typical drone, but it can fold the wings back into what looks more like a fixed wing aircraft, which allows it to travel much faster than any other drones, but still slower than a conventional aircraft.
According to the information available, the battery life / flight time is officially about an hour, but my best guess is that the battery technology has been improved. Could also be one of their ‘in development’ listed models not yet disclosed as operational. Once of those boasts a 9 hour runtime and a 650lb cargo capacity (nice to think about one of those to get around the Lakewood traffic one day!)
PteroDynamics has a contract to develop these drones for the Navy as a recon and cargo drone to operate between Naval vessels and ground bases, so the sea-to-Fort Dix route every night makes sense, as does the start of the sightings and performance observed during the wind storms the other week.
My best guess is that they are operating under cover of darkness in order to avoid being observed directly by adversaries.
Again, this is all just speculation, but I think it also explains why the government has been less than forthcoming about explanations other than the fact that they pose no known danger to civilians and that that are not a hostile foreign actor.

Problem is someone needs to tell your mother-in-law that the kugel you’re eating is fat-free, because she doesn’t get all of that info via her spy drones. She thinks you’re cheating because she’s unaware of all the fat-free ingredients that are in the foods you eat, which is why I’m not a big fan of using spy drone technology to try to catch cheating dieters.
My advice to you is to snap some photos of all the non-fat ingredients you use in your cooking, and to enlarge the photos and place them outside on your lawn, so when your mother-in-law’s spy drones fly over your home, the fat-free photo info will be relayed to her, ‘The Spy-in-Chief’. It will make her extremely happy, and she might even send you some delicious fat-free chocolate chip cookies for Hanukkah.
Everything possible, why don’t they just come out with a statement saying that the government has some drones flying

On a serious note-this doesn’t make sense because they’re not en-route anywhere . The last 4 nights there have been between 5-10 just hovering over my neighborhood in Tom’s River .
The big ones circle and eventually move elsewhere but the smaller ones are circulating . You can see that they are not stars-they have blinking red or green light’s .

oh sorry i was just testing out my new drones, didnt know it was making such chaos! was just trying to snoop on a friend of mine, whos been dating for a while already and is being very secretive about it, was curious where hes going… btw ive discovered many new places for guys to go (this guy finished the list of all the famous places and exclusive secret mekomos that only his friend zanvel knows about cuz his older brother punkt was checking out that area one chal hamoed to find a nice quiet place that noone ever knew about so its not packed with all the yidden with their double strollers, and on the way to this place he had hashgacha pratis and got a flat tire mamish in the best place ever, and he tainas its zicher a moiridigeh place for a date but only like a 4th or 5th…) it seems like my friend is working with a local google maps guide to help him discover these places! after the famous trump incident i realized its totally legal to fly my drones wherever i want to and noone will even think of shooting it down because we seemed to have reached a point in America where youre better off not getting involved rather than saving the day like the guy on the subway, i mean, imagine someone shoots it down, he’ll be charged for not waiting till it first shoots him. and ever since the lakewood equinox sale I’ve got JCP&L to install a charger to my house and my tichtig friend whos very garibin made it compatible to charge my drones. he even added a whole portable charger kneitch to my drones to keep it charging in flight so it can last all day (he figured out this shtick when he was in mesivta and hung out by bagel nosh satmar yapchick and glatt bite bein hazmanim all day and his phone kept dying). i also use these drones to see when my chavrusah leaves to yeshiva so i could quickly hustle out and get there a minute before so he thinks im shtark (cuz he comes at least a half hour early) and i also figured out the exact time when the rabbeim study the advertisements in lakewood so they can kuch to their talmidim (cuz everyone in their shul doesnt like their shtells because they said the exact same thing yesterday just in different words and lav davka is seven eleven resembling taivos just because its the same gematria if you spell it backwards and minus chai, zara is not necessarily short for avoda zara, sushi nation closed down already, and pizza on wheels is not really sheker because with the din lavud it IS on wheels, and pizza on the 9 doesnt mean to come back every 9 minutes, j2 is not because it rhymes with jew, pizza plus is not demanding you get toppings on your pizza, and lipas munch is not trying to advertise how much lipa eats…) but if you guys are getting scared i could try to get lcsw and shomrim to fly around near my drones with their lights flashing so you know that its just like friday night and the patrol teams are keeping us safe! also i noticed chris christie does get a lot of food deliveries to his house but he usually intercepts them early with his own drones…
I saw the website that you said you think it is, but the drones don’t look anything like them. My guess is that they might be the DJI Enterprise drones which look similar to the picture that you posted.
