Hope you recover the tefillin soon. But please note: Tefillin should never be left in cars. Even in the winter!The heat destroys the klaf and can make the parshiyos possul. Not to mention the risk of loss and theft of a very valuable and sacred item.
above comment is not true, heat does not ruin klaf unless you have cheap ones.
Heat will also ruin the writing.
