That is so so thoughtful! Many of us in the Jewish community have close family and friends in israel and if not still feel terribly for our community there. Personally whenever someone tells me they are thinking of israel it touches my heart!
Beautiful! Thank you for being a friendly voice, a voice of reason, in this mixed up world! Were there more people like you, this would be a better world!
Just tell them how you feel when you see them. You’d be surprised how far it goes. (Bringing them cookies might be a little weird.)
Probably the sentiment you expressed would be nice just as is.
I wonder what ideas the other commenters are going to come up with. (As I write this there are no other comments posted; maybe they’re waiting for moderation)
Just saying we’re thinking of you or supportive of Israel or anything along those lines goes a long way to combat the opposite sentiment that has been flowing out of many other places. Thank you for being a good neighbor and clearly a person with moral values!
With all the anti-Israel and anti-semitism we continue to experience, hearing someone who is not Jewish express their sympathy and support is a very comforting feeling. Thank you for asking the question and for the support!
Honestly, just expressing your feelings of solidarity are appreciated very much. Cookies are ok, perhaps(?), but letting your neigbors know that you are thinking of israel in this trying time means alot.
Thank you for your sensitivity in asking what is appropriate. Cookies are a nice gesture but completely unnecessary. In lieu of a gift to us here, you can donate to a charity in Israel to help soldiers on the front lines or families directly impacted by the horrific tragedy and tell your neighbors you did so.
Thanks again for your sensitivity and support.
May God bless you and your family for showing support and compassion in such difficult times . The world needs more people like you ! . In dark times a little light goes along way ..
Thank you !!
The world needs more people like you
Thank you for caring!!
As the other posters said, just sharing that you stand with them, with Israel, and with the Jewish people during this dark time will be most comforting to your neighbors. With all the anti-semitic rhetoric being expressed, many of us wonder if our non-Jewish neighbors stand with us or if they wish us dead as well.
I’m sure your kind words will be most reassuring to your neighbors. They are lucky to have you live near them!
israelrescue.org is a great organization
warms the heart to know people like you.
Best regards to you and your fam.
Cookies idea is nice; Expressing your feelings also nice
Wow! If all our neighbors had this attitude, we probably would never have needed to have this conversation.
I tried to show my support for Israel but I’m confused as it didn’t go the way I planned.
I purchased a number of Israeli flags to give out to show my support for Israel & Jews.
I randomly picked a synagogue (The “Satmar Shul” on Forest Ave) & waited for the men to come out after prayers. To my surprise no one took a flag
I’m assuming it was because they already have so many Israeli flags flying on their homes & schools that they wanted to leave the flags for others that didn’t have.
What a kind & generous people to always be thinking of others.
C’mon, sarcasm aside there could be a number of reasons why someone wouldn’t want to display an Isreali flag at this time. I myself work in places where an Israeli flag could very well make me a target for Arabs.
The sad reality is that some hasidic Jews, particularly Satmar, are particularly against the Israeli government, and therefore not exited about the Israeli flag. Many other Jews of all kinds would not react that way.
UNBELIEVABLE!
Here is a gentile (clever and caring) neighbor, that we went into HIS neighborhood, (yes, Jews belong in Israel) and feels this way towards us. But to the world we host terrorists in our home land and get blamed for shutting their water when they kill our people.
Thank you for showing the world that some people actually think straight! Shame on Harvard!
To the letter writer,
May the Almighty bless your family with lots of good health.
Dear kindhearted, humble, and caring, person who took the time to write and post this letter,
Your words of sympathy and support gave me tremendous comfort during this tough situation! I will not forget this for a really long time!!!
Something that would mean a lot to me, would be if you can post something on a non jewish platform in support of the jews, and then re-post a screenshot of the replies here ( the hopefully good replies).
I am a jew that lives right near howell, and I am really really happy and lucky to live in the same neighborhood as you!
Much respect and appreciation!!!!
Came home today to a bag of bagels delivered by 4 corners from a non Jewish neighbor that they were thinking of us. Thought thatvwas a beautiful gesture.
that is really special! pure kindness!
thank you for sharing!
