A student at the Lakewood Middle School was arrested for bringing a fake – but realistic-looking gun to school, TLS has learned.

Police responded to the school at around 9:45 AM on Tuesday after receiving a report about the gun.

A teacher at the school told TLS the gun was spotted by the student’s teacher when he was showing it off to other students.

Police arrived and arrested the juvenile for possession of the realistic-looking gun.

“The gun contained metal parts, so I don’t know why the metal detectors didn’t pick it up” the source told TLS.

Police didn’t provide an age of the juvenile, but the source at the school told TLS the student was 12 years old.

He was later released to a parent.
