String Of Break-Ins Hits Central Avenue

stolen-gps-ps2sIf you woke up to find your GPS system missing from your car this morning, you’re not alone. Nearly fifteen cars were broken into last night in the Central Avenue area-which kept police quite busy this morning. Well technically, they weren’t break-ins, on the most part. Nearly all the cars which were searched during the night, were LEFT UNLOCKED. Most of the items stolen were-as usual-GPS systems. Police are investigating the incidents.

  1. You shouldn’t be leaving your GPs device in your car as it is. At the very least LOCK the door!! People are literally inviting these guys to our neighborhoods.

  2. Most robberies occur here without the use of force. There are exceptions, but the burglar is too lazy, and paranoid to get caught. The easier the better for them. There are those in this town who leave things unlocked because they don’t think anything can happen in “their” area, but some just forget to lock doors, windows etc.

  3. Why should I lock the door? Then the thieves will break the window – which is a lot more expensive to replace than the GPS. (his happened to me once, BTW, so I speak from experience. I hadn’t even left the GPS in the car – I had it with me. But the crooks saw the holder and broke the window and ransacked my car to see where I had hidden it. What a mess! This happened in NY though, maybe Lakewood’s crooks are lazier.
