by T.H. Since Pesach, Rabbi Shafier of the Shmuz has been speaking to schools and communities on the East Coast, spreading Torah in his direct and practical style.
Rabbi Shafier addressed the Middle School students in Yeshiva of South Shore on April 26th about davening and connecting with Hashem. “Rabbi Shafier’s message about the awesome opportunities that we have every time we daven, really resonated with the talmidim. Davening often seems to be esoteric and elusive, but Rabbi Shafier was able to make it real!” said Rabbi Zev Davidowitz, Menahel Hamechina.
On Friday April 28th, Rabbi Shafier spoke to the Talmidim of TA (Talmudical Academy) and to the staff and students of Bnos Yisroel High School in Baltimore. All agreed that Rabbi Shafier’s message was clear, down to earth and extremely practical, one that could be incorporated into the lives of each student.
On Shabbos before Mincha, Rabbi Shafier gave a Shabbos Drasha in Bais Haknesses Ohr HaChaim, Rabbi Weiss’s shul followed by a lecture to the students of Yeshiva Gedolah Ohr HaTorah on Motzei Shabbos. Sunday morning, Rabbi Shafier joined WIT, Rebbetzin Frieda K. Hirmes Women’s Institute of Torah for a lecture and brunch in the Milk and Honey Bistro Restaurant. He expressed the importance of communal involvement and the importance for women to continue learning.
The 2017 M. Leo Storch Memorial Lecture was held at Bais Yaakov of Baltimore on Sunday night, April 30th. Rabbi Heinemann delivered his weekly M. Leo Storch halacha shiur followed by Rabbi Shafier’s address titled “Aspiring for Greatness, Planning with Purpose”. The shmuz focused on the fact that Hashem gave every human the ability to soar to great heights, if only we’d believe in ourselves. It gave the participants the focus and motivation to turn their dreams into reality.
On Sunday, May 7th, Rabbi Shafier will be presenting his popular Marriage Seminar in Brooklyn and at the end of May, he will be joining Hanna Sacks High School in Chicago for their annual Shabbaton.
The Shmuz is a Torah lecture that offers a worldview on major life issues ranging from working on our middos to learning to be a better spouse, from understanding the meaning of our davening to what our purpose is in this world. Rabbi Ben Tzion Shafier is direct, daring, and downright funny, providing audiences with essential Torah principles packaged in an enticing, enjoyable way. The Shmuz is expanding its reach by launching a new Shmuz website. Originally designed for post-yeshiva working guys, The Shmuz now influences thousands of Jewish people around the world through Rabbi Shafier’s online videos, articles and live webinars. The new website can be found at www.TheShmuz.com.
