Local Askanim Beseech Heavenly Court Not To Turn Lakewood Into A Permanent Snow Dumping Grounds
Dozens of askanim from Lakewood, NJ issued a joint statement on Sunday pleading with the heavenly court to find alternative snow dumping grounds in NJ other than Lakewood where the state’s huge accumulations of snow can be dumped.
“We appreciate the fact that the heavenly court has chosen our township as one of its prime snow dumping grounds,” the statement said, “however we kindly beseech the court to give us some much-needed respite and to find some substitute snow dumping grounds just for a short period of time, so that Lakewood residents can take a quick break from all of that lovely snow.”
However, a senior askan told reporters just moments ago that, “As of 3:45 PM today, askanim have yet to hear back from the heavenly court, which means there is likely a huge disagreement in the court as to whether our request should be granted.”
“At this point of time, it looks like the opposing voices upstairs are stronger than the voices that concur with us,” the senior askan added, “which means the following:
“It’s time to roll up our sleeves, pull out the shovels, the snow plows, and the huge bags of salt, and to begin the painstaking process of digging ourselves out of this colossal mess.”

I wondered the same, probably because the rain would wash it away. They started as soon as the rain turned to snow at about 2:30 pm

People are getting mad at you but you probably only saw the news for the following, which said:
“As of 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the New York State Thruway Authority has implemented a ban on all tandem and empty tractor-trailers on I-87 south of exit 17 (Newburgh/I-84), including the entire I-87/I-287 stretch in Rockland and Westchester Counties due to severe weather”
In addition it said it about the I-84 and the I-95, which the latter still was allowing private vehicles as of when you wrote your comment and only banning commercial.

How is the travel ban constitutional? Not saying that people should go out, but how is it allowed?

Agreed that it is common sense not to go out. But constitutionality is not governed by common sense.

“State travel bans during blizzards are considered constitutional under the “police power” of states to protect public health and safety. While the Constitution protects the right to travel, this right is not absolute and can be temporarily restricted during emergencies to allow for emergency services, snow removal, and to prevent harm.”

Now, if you could only convince the people to stay off the roads because the plows are not able to make it through. There is a travel ban people

that the media is exempt shows this is not a true emergency, this just a power tripping communist governor doing what communists like to do: Control people

It is a state of emergency. And the governor of the state that has been elected has the power to invoke a state of emergency. You are required by law to follow it.Or face repercussions. Why do you think it doesn’t apply to you

I never said it doesn’t apply to me. I just wanted to understand the constitutionality.

The ploughs have been out since four pm yesterday. If they don’t do a proper job in your opinion then perhaps you could help make sure the roads are clear. For the ploughs to get through.

Some streets are being plowed by small pickup trucks with small plows. Perhaps they should do three passes. We worked so hard to have our cars off the street but with the very narrow path they are making, which is so far from the curb this was entirely for naught.

Some of you geniuses thought it was good idea to park your cars in the middle of the road during the last storm and block vehicles coming in like buses to pick up YOUR kids.
