PHOTO: As earlier reported on our News Alerts, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region. The watch is in effect until 9PM. The thunderstorm is capable of producing quarter size hail, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
The NWS says, “This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.”
JCP&L says there are about 18,000 customers without power. Howell has about 2,300 without power, while Lakewood only has about a handful reported.
If you check the weather maps, the main strong windy dangerous front has already passed Lakewood and is East and South. The rain can still come, but the significant danger has passed.
