Stolen loaded gun, drugs found in vehicle during traffic stop in Lakewood

Two Newark men were arrested following a traffic stop in Lakewood, police say.

At approximately 8pm last night, Lakewood police officers assigned to the Department’s Street Crimes and Crime Suppression Units conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on River Avenue.

“During the investigation, a search of the the vehicle and its occupants were conducted, resulting in the recovery of a quantity of Marijauana, a firearm and magazine loaded with a hollow point bullet,” police said. “During the investigation, it was learned that the firearm was stolen out of Florida.”

The occupants, Teriq D. Moore, 25, and Davon J. Reid, 28, both of Newark, were both charged with Possession of Marijuana over 50 grams, as well as multiple weapons violations. Reid was charged as a certain person not to possess weapons based on a previous conviction.

Both parties were lodged at the Ocean County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance.

  1. Thank God this turned out well for the brave officers involved. Stats show way too many traffic stops go really bad. All the elements were there in this one but no one got hurt. To every law enforcement officer, I pray that you will make it back home, safe and sound. You beat the odds and may you all continue to do so every time.
