The job market and economy need a serious jumpstart, but the stimulus program likely won’t be able to do it. This summer will be the peak of the $787 billion stimulus program in terms of creating jobs and pumping money into the economy. In fact, the Obama administration is calling it the Summer of Recovery because more than 30,000 miles of highways are being improved, more than 2,800 water projects have been started and 120,000 homes will be weatherized.
After that, it will be a downhill slide for stimulus even as the economy is expected to continue sputtering.
“It’s very hard to discern any impact,” said Brian Bethune, chief U.S. financial economist for IHS Global Insight. Read full story in CNN
its all a big farce, big government and their out of controll spending is only making things worse . This approach has never worked in the past and it will fail again .
Just imagine if no intervention took place. It’s all nice to think the delusion that the economy is like some shrub on your front lawn that will come back on its own after a bad winter. Its not, it takes intervention. Thank goodness that President Bush and now President Obama know that. Just imagine if no intervention took place. The effect of the collapse of the financial and auto industry would have had on us. The only legitimate criticism is that more of the stimulus money hasn’t been spent yet to spur new growth. It dose us no good sitting there.
It'[s about time people are waking up and realizing that this tax and spend strategy doesn’t work.
The spending has to stop, on the federal level, on the state level, and on the local level. When people are taxed, they lose the incentive to work harder. When people get free money and benefits from the government, they lose the incentive to work. The economy will continue to decline, the unemployment level will continue to rise, until there is no more money to tax, and we will become like Greece.
It’ll happen faster than you think.
The more you depend on government programs, the bigger the shock will be when all those government programs come to a big stop.
It may not happen in the next two years, but it will happen. Soon.
Don’t forget to vote this November. Our childrens’ future (and our own) depend on it.
#2 you don’t get it the stimulus was a waste of money and the proof is we are worse off now than before the gov past the stimulus package
