Steven Reinman, Lakewood, was recently appointed the Director of Economic Development for Lakewood Township and the Executive Director of Lakewood Industrial Commission by Mayor Singer and the Lakewood Township Committee. In his new roles, Reinman will oversee the Township’s economic development effort to attract new retail and corporate businesses to Lakewood, oversee a branding and marketing campaign to highlight the business friendly atmosphere in Lakewood, and promote the many attractions Lakewood offers, which include business opportunities, cultural experiences, and a high quality of life. He will work to increase the tax base and expand employment opportunities for Lakewood residents.
In addition, Reinman will also oversee the operation of Lakewood Airport, recently taken over by Lakewood Township, and will work with the FAA and N.J. Department of Transportation to further develop the airport as a valuable local resource.
Prior to becoming the Director of Economic Development, Reinman spent close to 15 years in the high technology venture capital arena as a venture capitalist and executive recruitment specialist. In those roles, Reinman worked with young companies in a variety of strategic and operational roles, helping plan and manage their growth from startup to maturity and success. Reinman’s venture capital activities included working with investment portfolio companies across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel.
After graduating from high school in Long Beach, N.Y., Reinman studied in Israel for several years, returning to Lakewood in 1982 to complete his MS in Talmudic Studies at Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG), a local institution of higher learning and the largest Talmudic Studies College in the United States.
Reinman has served on several Lakewood Township committees and boards. Among them, he was a member of the Lakewood Board of Education from 1994 through 1996; the chairman of the Lakewood Housing Authority and a member of the budget and finance committee; a member of the Local Assistance Board, supervising staff that administered federal and state relief and assistance benefits; and an appointee to the Blue Ribbon Commission of Low Income Housing to lobby the federal government for more local housing aid. Nebach
The narrative above is malarky….Nebach…..He was out of a job and politically connected, hence, he is now the Director of Economic Development. Another political patronage position, period, end-of-story.
Nebach. This person has absolutly no experience to oversee the operation of the Lakewood Airport. He needed work and was well-connected, politically, voila, he is now the Overseer of the Lakewood Airport. Political appointments for the unqualified are alive and well in Fakewood.
Nebach, your right nebach that 2 days before rosh hashanah you have to talk about someone like this.
You may be right ,but the person who was previously overseeing the airport had even less experience so we can only be better off . lets give him a chance to prove himself

you are a motzi shem ra and need to think before you click the submit button. the jealousy is dripping in your comment.
reb steve is a ish matzliach. whatever he is involved in does well b’ezras hashem. He also has a certain maala many don’t have…he is normal. I hope all who wrote against him ask for mechila, if you can’t find him at home he is probably learning as he does on his free time not like others who 2 days before yom hanoira sit knocking ppl. I had enough already
I think it’s great that they chose Steven. He will do a great job. Hatzlocha and L`shona Tova.
Steve Reiman is a successful well rounded individual. He has a myriad of connections within the corporate world. He is personable and eloquent.he was really supposed to be the director of the urban enterprise zone, but there were other people that want to keep the uez for their own needs and were afraid steve would actually do something with uez money other than allow it to go for their pet projects.so they needed to appoint him to a different post to get something done for the better around here. Steve is dedicated and understands what the town needs to do to grow responsibly.he has no personal agenda and can only be an asset to the town.you will see that whatever small money we are spending for a salary and benefits will be repaid to us many times over.a gut gebentched yur to all. I only got on here because someone told me the usual blogging crew were trashing a truly good smart and honest person. Best of luck mr reiman
An excellent appointment. Kudos to Mayor Singer and the Twp Committee. An honest, highly-talented b en Torah. A real asset to the community. Anyone who knows Steve and worked with him in any capacity has deep respect for his professionalism and real involvement in the community. Sure hope he stays in Lakewood. People with his talent are usually grabbed by bigger cities.
Occasionally I eavesdrop on R’ Steves daf Yomi shuir, the man is a huge talmid chochum!
to all the ppl who wrote something negative. it is evident to me that you must be out of work. please contact my office so we can set you up with a job. As for Mr. Reinman, he beat out many other candidates in three rounds of interviews. enough said.
Lakewood is fortunate to have gotten a man of this caliber to work on their behalf. Steve Reinman has been an active member of the Lakewood community for many years. He was the first frum person on the Lakewood school board and worked for the benefit of the entire community, fostering good relations with everyone while taking care of the interests of the yeshiva community.
Steve is a talented, gifted individual whose honesty and integrity can only benefit the entire community. May HKB”H give him the kochos to accomplish his many wonderful goals.
A gut gebentcht yahr to all.
Lakewood is lucky to have hired such a talented individual, who is not only smart but a real mensch and not a political hack. Hatzlacha Rabba!
He is a great person and a real Mentsch! What is his salary though? We pay these salaries!

he was out of a job and politically connected. For the record: Another political patronage position.
