Agudath Israel of America, a national Orthodox Jewish organization, welcomes President Trump’s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to serve as Justice of the United States Supreme Court. We are impressed with Judge Gorsuch’s skill, experience, intellect and temperament. He seems to be eminently qualified for the post.

Both his judicial actions and popular writings show Judge Gorsuch to be a champion of religious liberty and to possess a deeply ethical perspective on the infinite value of human life. These are two pillars of jurisprudence which, in Agudath Israel’s view, are essential qualities in candidates for the nation’s High Court.

We intend to present a fuller analysis of Judge Gorsuch’s record in the weeks ahead as the Senate considers this nomination. For now, we congratulate Judge Gorsuch on his nomination, and we look forward to him being approved as expeditiously as possible to serve as the nation’s 113th Supreme Court Justice.
