Statement From BOE Member Elect Joel Schwartz

I would like to thank all the residents of Lakewood who took the time to vote in this years BOE elections. On a personal level, I am very grateful to all of you who voted for us as a team and for allowing us the opportunity to serve you. We as a team, all share the same values, which is to improve our education system by ensuring that these children receive a thorough and efficient education in a fiscal responsible method and to bridge the gaps between the various communities and groups here in Lakewood.

I would like to extend a special thank you to those individuals who were so instrumental in our campaign. You were all real contributors in your own right. I believe I can speak for the rest of us, that we are forever grateful for your hard work and dedication.

I would like to extend my well wishes to the outgoing board members Mrs. Miccio and Mr. Grunhut and I thank you both for the many years of public service you put in as board members of Lakewood School District.

Last night, I was introduced to some of the sitting members of our board including Mr Fink, Mr Tift, Mr Seitler and Mr Zlatkine and I pledged to work together with them as a team.

I hope I will serve you all faithfully and with mutual respect.

Yours Truly,

Joel Schwartz
BOE member elect

  1. Cut the taxes, take away the monopolies, and give us constant updates on everything going on at the Board of Ed —- and you will be evry successful.

Every time there is a controversial decision taken, or a colorful Board of Ed meeting caught on video —– explain it. Send out letters like Rabbi Hertz did, come on TLS, etc. You must explain your decisions and positions.

If you continue to update the voters, the voters will continue to support you.

And let us know names. Which Board of Ed members are stopping you from implementing reforms? We need to know, so that we can vote them.

    Good luck!

  2. to Yid; I think that there is a misunderstanding here. You ask the new and some old BOE members to explain their moves along the way and son and so forth in order to be successful. They are actually doing WAY WAY more than any one of us sitting in our homes while they are giving their all to help us out. You and I and every other yid are obligated no less then them to help out our fellow jew. Instead of instructing them – fulfill your own obligation and help them in the same manner they are helping you. Reach out to them and ask them the following : How can I help you help me.

  3. PLEASE do whatever it takes to come to an agreement with the LEA. It reflects very poorly on our community that the teachers in our district are working for the 3rd year without a contract!
