Undercover cop in a blue Chevy sedan around hospital area on rt 9 pulling people over.
Another one on 4th and Madison
One sitting on chestnut near rt 9
State trooper just pulled over another one right in front of minyan
This is starting to get crazy. The police are becoming a fiscal arm of the state and local government. People are resenting the police force because they do not see them as protectors. When you see a fire truck, or an ambulance, you think that they are there for sole purpose of helping. When you see a police car, for a moment, your heart stops, because you are afraid that you might be doing something wrong. Meanwhile, drugs are on the rise, crime is on the rise and the police are more focused on setting up speed traps and inspection traps.
The bitten line is that although I know that the speed needs to be regulated, if your primary job is to protect, and the people don’t feel protected, you have failed as a civil servant.
I’m sure some people will say that I don’t have appreciation for the sacrifice that these men and women make everyday….. I do appreciate it, but the fact is that crime, which is thief primary duty, is getting worse. And then we hear that they flood Lakewood to crack down on bad drivers.
State troopers should stay on the state roads and leave local policing to the local police
100% well said
What you fail to understand is that during these “minor” stops, police often find people with warrants out for them for various crimes. Remember–breaking the law is just that-no matter what severity we label it. Speeding is breaking the law–so is talking on your cell phone and failing to have children properly restrained.
If you have done nothing wrong, there is no reason why your heart should stop for a moment. Keep your actions right no matter who is watching–because no matter what person may or may not see our behavior and actions- there is One more important then all of them that we need to answer to.
Instead of working on getting guns and drugs off the streets, they pursue citizens on the way to work or school.
Talk about poor management at its ‘finest’.
To #3:
News flash – Rt. 9 is a state road…….
to #7 the picture shows a trooper on Clifton Ave. It is not a state road.
State Police are not confined to just stay on State roads..if they see something going on a state road they will follow you off of that road..just because your offense happened on a state road and you pull off onto a side road doesnt mean they can not follow you.
To #3:
News Flash – Rt. 9 is a US Highway. The repairs are done by the state but policing is usually done by local municipalities. The state police are allowed to ticket on it just like any city street also.
To number 8, the trooper is getting himself bagels at bagel nosh. Give the guy a break!
To JJ
Do you come to a complete ! stop when stopping at a stop sign ? Do you slide into the right side of the road/street to make a right on red when there is a car in front of you waiting at the red ?
#5 is correct. Many times these stops result in people be arrested for other things: Drugs, warrants, weapons, etc.
It is another way to impact crime as a whole.
Just obey the law and you will be fine
The jurisdiction of the NJ State Police is the entire State of NJ
I wonder if the state police come to Lakewood disproportionately to other neighboring towns
A LOT more going on in Lakewood than trafic infractions. Would be nice to see them get the syndicated gangs out of here. Our police department is unable to handle an international criminal organization. THe state and FBI need to get involved to get drugs and gangs out of Lakewood .
# 12:
Yes I actually DO come to a COMPLETE stop at a stop sign just like I actually YIELD at a yield sign both which usually elicits some impatient, careless driver trying to rush me by honking a horn (which just an FYI there are so many horns honked in this town who does it phase? I mean really).
Oh and yes, if the white line on the right does not “allow” for the right turn, no-I will NOT pass on the right–several reasons–you never know for sure what is happening in front of the other car and who or what may be on the shoulder. Plus, if an emergency vehicle (ambulance, fire truck, police car, etc) need to pass, one must consider where will the car in front of me go if I decide to get along side of it? If the line does not designate it as such, we have no business doing it. You will notice if the line does not curve it is most often times NOT a right turn on red. When the line does curve however, it typically is a right turn on red after a complete stop. If we all followed the rules of the road as they’ve been established, perhaps there would be no need for such policing. Each of us should be policing ourselves so there is no need to worry about what that policeman is doing behind, next to, in front of, or near us.
Let them go to Camden and Newark and do these traffic stops.
They’ll find alot more people with warrants etc.
Drive like a metntch and you wont have to be worried about getting ticketed.
Please put your blinkers on! Easy way to keep safe!
Yes, JJ.
NJSP can go to any town and on any rode !
they are fundraising for the state
