At approximately 12:45 am yesterday, Officer Christopher Dunphy received a radio transmission regarding an erratic driver operating a silver colored KIA.
Within minutes, Officer Dunphy observed a vehicle matching that description enter the intersection of Main Street and Clifton Avenue at a high rate of speed.
A subsequent motor vehicle stop was initiated, and the driver, 32-year-old Felipe Cruz-Gomez of Lakewood, appeared to be intoxicated. Several on-scene sobriety tests were conducted, however, Gomez was unable to successfully complete them as instructed.
Further investigation, with the assistance of Officer Tymur Zavalnyuk and Sgt. Michael Marzocca resulted in the arrest of Gomez.
He was charged with Driving While Under the Influence and received numerous accompanying motor vehicle summonses. He was later released pending a future court date.
Letting him go was a truly BRILLIANT move.

To #5 Yes the 1st thing the police should check is his immigration status, if he is illegal, he should be deported, it’s time to take the US back, I’m sick & tired of the illegal aliens, we have to build that wall, not grant amnesty 2 illegal immigrants & deport all illegal aliens, my grandparents went through Auschwitz & other death camps came to the US legally for what that we should let illegal aliens come here freely, I’m sorry this is unacceptable, they have no right to be here, my grandparents came legally, so should everyone else, no one is more special than another, after the war was a different story, but these illegals should be deported

To yitzchak shimon, you’re judging a whole group of people based on one person’s action. What if your religion or race was judged by someone’s dumb choice? Why do you assume he is an illegal immigrant just judging by his name? What if you got labeled and criticised just by your name? Most of these people come to this country illegaly because of the circumstances they’re in and want to provide a better life for their family. Just like how alot of jewish people had to make that choice in ww2 and will risk sneaking in to a country illegaly just so their family can be safe and not have to go through those tuff times and who can blame them. I respect all people of all kinds and don’t think we should judge a group of people based on someone’s bad choice.
