  1. Please be careful not to pass your chometz for the fireman to throw into the fire. Certain ones cannot be a shaliach to do your mitzvah for you, so you are not considered to have gotten rid of your chometz by burning rather one of the other “less meudar” ways.
    While not a pressing issue it is something to pay attention to. People do not go le’chatchila to throw chametz intot the lake….Gut Yom Tov

    They know you mean the non-jewish firefighters. Is making people feel bad, or worse, enough of a pressing issue for you to post this in public?
    Safety wise, don’t insist on tossing it in if you can’t make it, and many don’t. Then you really didn’t do Biur Chometz. Please don’t ask the firefighters to pick your stuff up 3 times because you keep missing. …and it creates a huge mess that those non-jewish firefighters who are standing out there for you all morning from 7-12 need to clean up. That’s something to pay attention to.
