Many are wondering what the smell of smoke is around town. As earlier reported, the State Forest Fire Service is currently conducting prescribed burns around the County.
The prescribed burns are intended to help prevent future forest fires.
Prescribed burns, which began a couple of weeks ago, are planned for townships throughout Ocean, Monmouth and other Counties around the State.
Elderly people and people with health conditions are encouraged to remain indoors during such events.

Will this be a weekly thing happening around here! I can’t breath!!!!!
This is good for the long term.
In history NJ has had tremendous fires in the pine barrens.
Good job Christie. In spite of your recent failures.
With temperatures above 60 degrees forcasted for most of the week control burns will more than likely be suspended by state officials. The Higher temperature create safety issues while burning in the wooded areas
