Sidewalks Coming to Stretch of Road Along Cedarbridge Avenue in Lakewood

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Hi Me. Mayor, thanks for doing a wonderful job in this town.

Are there any plans in putting sidewalks from Avenue of the states till clover? I see people walking all the time very close to the road because of no sidewalks and it’s very unsafe. I did see the county out all week doing some marking in this area. I was wondering if this is the beginning of installing sidewalks.

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good afternoon,

The county has scheduled improvements needed along Cedarbridge in this area.

Our intention is to install sidewalks along the entire length once the county finalizes their design.

We are meeting with the county in a week or so to discuss all the projects they have planned for town. This will be one of the topics we intend to raise.

Thanks

Ray

  1. Thank you mayor cole very much. Perhaps we can get a right turning lane on cedarbridge turning onto clover. This way if someones going straight it wont slowed things down as much.

  2. Whoopeee!
    I’m genuinely excited.
The more city infrastructure the better in my opinion.
Now we just need traffic lights at every corner and about another 25 roads and I’ll feel like I’m in my favorite city again.

  3. Sorry to be negative, but reality sometimes tastes bitter, the only reason they are doing this is because that entire length of cedar bridge is the property of cedar bridge development. the development arm of………Even before the avenue of the States was built the infrastructure was in with the traffic lights blinking for years ,the lots were empty but the infrastructure was in. when other parts of town were in desperate need of infrastructure , sidewalks traffic lights etc. If you’re a little guy you can wait for years…..

    • Sidewalks on Cross Street? Who the heck needs sidewalks on this narrow, early 20th century 2-lane road, designed without shoulders! At certain hours of the day hapless left-turn makers create bumper-to-bumper havoc, since there’s no shoulder to get around them. Of all the inconsiderate NERVE, wanting to make left turns on Cross Street! (sarcasm here). If there’s not enough width to make desperately needed shoulders, then proposing sidewalks is kind of…uh…loony.

  4. I was in Lakewood two days ago, and I felt better when I went to the bus station and no one was loitering or asking for money or cigarettes and I went to the liquor store to buy cigarettes and no one was begging for money Mayer Coles you are an awesome Mayor of Lakewood

  5. You ARE being negative. And if they wouldn’t have had the infrastructure prepared, you would be complaining about that. I’ve been in this town-turned-city for over 30 years and I have chosen to welcome the changes, for better or worse, with acceptance and good cheer. Makes for stable blood pressure and overall quality of life. Try it.

  6. Missed the point. Of course they need to prepare. For everyone equally not just for the powerful and connected. How many other projects in desperate need and on the back burner. They ARE prepared for the powerful, avenue of Americas infrastructure was ready years before the with any building going on. but the common Man waits for years for projects to get done. WIDEN RT 9 FOR EXAMPLE. I understand that is a state highway but we haven’t seen any movement in years, while thousands wait in traffic each and every day. Ignorance is bliss and keeps your blood pressure low.

  7. I walk this route on Cedarbridge from Clover to the Woods to visit my sister on Shabbos and Yomtov. It is extremely dangerous and would really appreciate if the sidewalk project could be completed ASAP. It is a safety issue.
