Shuvu Stories: Short Statements by Shuvu Children

[COMMUNICATED] Daniel: “Who would believe that I’d be dealing with Havayos of Abaye and Rava in Bava Metzia! When I grow up, I’d like to be Zoche to make a Siyum Shas! This is thanks to Shuvu.”

Once I moved to Shuvu, I taught my parents what I learn about Torah and Mitzvot, and now we light candles and keep Shabbos and it does good for the whole family.”

Marina: “We started keeping Shabbos. Before coming to Shuvu we used to have a Seudah on Shabbos, but you know, as traditional Jews, it was with the television on. We then drove in the car. In school we got Shiurei Torah, my sister and I, and I have another sister one year old who will also come! Eventually my father stopped using his phone on Shabbos and puts on Tefillin, and a Kipa. My mother also became stronger in religion. It’s fun! It unites the family.”

Maor: “I came from an atheist family. No Shem Hashem mentioned at all. Why did my parents send to a frum school? The care is totally different than in secular schools. Today I believe in Hashem. I keep Yomim Tovim. My mother says Tehillim and does Netillas Yadayim. We don’t drive on Shabbos.”

Nirit: “Before coming to Shuvu we didn’t keep Shabbos and didn’t connect to these things.

Noya: “Since I came to Shuvu I understand the Parsha, understand Mitzvos, and keep them.”

Lior:  “Instead of playing soccer on Shabbos, we learn Torah in a Shul with a group of boys and a Rav from my school.”

Yovel: “For a Chareidi child, Shabbos is taken for granted. But for me, before coming I didn’t even know what Shabbos was. At Shuvu I learned Halachos and the taste of Shabbos. This past Pesach ended with a 2 day Yom Tov. I didn’t think it would be possible to keep 2 full days, but after I did, I saw how easy and sweet it was! This I learned from Shuvu!”

Yonatan: “As we approach Shavuos I look at other kids from my neighborhood and ask myself what the day means to them. Nothing! But for us, we learn about the sweetness of the Torah!”
