Yehuda Schoenfeld*, father of 4 hit the news yesterday when his story of identity fraud was publicized.
He was shocked when he was arrested in Europe and thrown into jail for tax offenses because he’d never evaded the law before. He soon found out that his identity was stolen and used for tax evasion.
What is even more shocking is that this man previously suffered from health difficulties. He has a weak heart, and his wife shared that she is afraid his heart won’t stand up to him and he won’t survive the ordeal.

He’s currently sitting in a crime-infested anti-semitic prison. Lawyers told the family that it’s relatively simple to free him – but it costs the astronomical sum of $200,000.
The wife shared “If I had a house I would sell it without batting an eyelid and pay the ransom to save my husband, but unfortunately, we sold our home a few years ago to pay for my husband’s medical treatments.”
There is a campaign running to raise urgently needed funds. Rabonim are encouraging people to do the Mitzva of Pidyon Shevuim and donate generously to save this father of 4 from a life-threatening prison sentence.
