The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office – Office of Emergency Management would like to inform residents of the Oyster Creek Generating Station Siren Test Scheduled for tomorrow, December 2.
At 10 a.m., Exelon Generation will conduct its semi-annual, full volume test of the new emergency warning sirens with battery back-up. Sirens will sound for a full three minutes.
This is just one of two semi-annual tests scheduled for the first Tuesday of June and December each year.
Exelon Generation replaced all 42 emergency warning sirens in the 10-mile radius around Oyster Creek with new, state-of-the-art units featuring battery back-up.
The original sirens were removed earlier this year. The purpose of the sirens is to notify residents to tune to an Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio or television station in case of an emergency.

Tomorrows tuesday, no?
Headline should say Tuesday, not Monday.
Talking about sirens why doesn’t lakewood have an alarm sounding for the coming of shabbos like there are in many other towns?
Shabbos isn’t an emergency or danger why do you feel there should be an alert system ?
Who set alarms are only for emergencies? Alarms are one the public and has to be alarmed about something. Shabbos is what to be alarmed about!
